I think he’s working the phones etc right nowSo does CY make an 11th hour trade or stand pat and take out a crying towel?
You could be right but I am not completely buying it. They beat the Braves last night and the Braves have a patsy pitching against them tomorrow. But crazier things have happened.I’m not worried about the Angels in the least. The only reason they’ve made up ground is due to the easiest part of their schedule coinciding with the hardest part of the Rangers schedule. Take a look at the Angels upcoming schedule. It’s brutal.
Furthermore, they’ve got a BUNCH of guys who have punching above their weight even more than the Rangers did early in the season. Their BABIP shows this to be true. There is no way that Chase Silseth and Griffin Canning keep up their pace. Ohtani has been cramping a lot lately. Trout still can’t fully swing a bat. And they just lost Taylor Ward for the season.
I’m not saying they will just go away and fall off a cliff. But they’ve got way too many factors working against them to be scared of them.
I wonder if Acuna and Zavala would have landed him. That seems like a slightly better package than what they got.
Their near writer is not stoked. They get no money and their soon to be 1st and second prospect
Pass the lemons around pleaseYou guys are all way too pessimistic about our team and too high on the others.
Verlander is not appreciably better than Scherzer. He just isn’t. He has half a season of slightly better ERA. Verlander has decreased velocity as well.
The Angels got a 2nd tier starting pitcher, an erratic reliever, and a decent bat.
We replaced our worst two starting pitchers with Scherzer and Montgomery. We replaced our worst 3 relievers with Stratton, Heaney, and Bradford. We got a LOT better.
I just don’t understand writing off our chances and our new players before they’ve even had a chance to pitch a single inning.
I understand, but to be fair, some of our “bad play” is due to the absolute buzzsaw of a schedule we just played- Rays, Dodgers, Astros, Padres. Part of our decrease in performance you just have to give the opponent credit for. We looked great against weaker competition coming out of the break. Now we get a cupcake stretch of schedule again. I’m willing to bet quite a bit that we suddenly look better in the coming days.part of my fear is that we will be helping them by playing bad baseball.
Their erratic reliever was on a roll before he arrived and has continued to do so.You guys are all way too pessimistic about our team and too high on the others.

I do to.I think he’s working the phones etc right now
Give me Verlander over Scherzer. To me that is an easy choice. You guys are all way too pessimistic about our team and too high on the others.

You understand the Mets are paying zeroI wonder if Acuna and Zavala would have landed him. That seems like a slightly better package than what they got.
They beat Charlie Morton. They also almost got swept by the Blue Jays. They’re nothing special. You could be right but I am not completely buying it. They beat the Braves last night and the Braves have a patsy pitching against them tomorrow. But crazier things have happened.

No doubt and I stated that when there was talk between the two.Give me Verlander over Scherzer. To me that is an easy choice.
There are no cupcakes in the postseason though.I understand, but to be fair, some of our “bad play” is due to the absolute buzzsaw of a schedule we just played- Rays, Dodgers, Astros, Padres. Then spend the money. You understand the Mets are paying zero
The Astros yes are all in but they are strapped for cash. They could have traded Chas or Brown so it would have hurt them more
If JV gets hurt that will be a huge hit
They have up what little farm they had
I think the Angels made a mistake in pitching Ohtani vs Detroit and instead pitching him against the Jays. That’s who they are chasing right now. They beat Charlie Morton. They also almost got swept by the Blue Jays. They’re nothing special.
Same can be said for anyone you trade for though. I remember Kluber. LolYou understand the Mets are paying zero
