The Mets get the #68 overall prospect and and add in for Verlander

They got the #49 prospect overall for Scherzer.

Goodbye 1st place. That's the guy we needed.

The Rangers could add another TORP pitcher but still don’t have the lineup nor bullpen to compete for the WS this year. Maybe someday they’ll change their philosophy on the bullpen. The bats played way over their heads it appears in the first half and while the current performance may be them playing below their potential, I just don’t see them performing anywhere near those first half numbers against playoff caliber pitching

I'm more worried about the Angels once they get Trout back.
The Angels made two really good moves. We will just have to see how much Scherzer, Montgomery and Stratton help us. They will all need to really perform at a high level and I am not sure they will.

I was hoping they would add one more starting pitcher and reliever.
Giolito and Lopez would have been a nice addition.

I’m not worried about the Angels in the least. The only reason they’ve made up ground is due to the easiest part of their schedule coinciding with the hardest part of the Rangers schedule. Take a look at the Angels upcoming schedule. It’s brutal.

Furthermore, they’ve got a BUNCH of guys who have punching above their weight even more than the Rangers did early in the season. Their BABIP shows this to be true. There is no way that Chase Silseth and Griffin Canning keep up their pace. Ohtani has been cramping a lot lately. Trout still can’t fully swing a bat. And they just lost Taylor Ward for the season.

I’m not saying they will just go away and fall off a cliff. But they’ve got way too many factors working against them to be scared of them.

if the Rangers don't figure out a way to start driving in runs at a better clip, it'll all be for nothing.

part of my fear is that we will be helping them by playing bad baseball.

They gave up more than what was originally mentioned. If you win a world series it will be worth it.
