Their erratic reliever was on a roll before he arrived and has continued to do so.
I am not saying you are wrong. In fact I hope you are right and I very seldom am negative except getting rid of Leon. LOL!
I am very familiar with Lopez, as he was on my dynasty fantasy team. I watched sadly multiple times as he came in and just imploded. He can be great at times, for sure. He throws gas. Some nights he can look unhittable. Others he looks unusable. He’s not bad, but he’s very inconsistent. Josh Hader he is not. He might be on a roll now, but he could easily blow up down the stretch.

I think one big question is if Eovaldi will be able to pitch soon. That would help a lot.
Him and Heim have me as concerned as the pen and the other rotation members, if not more. We have a whole lot going against us.

How about Clase and Leon in a package deal, but nobody wants to admit their mistakes.

Who do you think we're gonna face in the postseason?
I’m not talking about postseason. I’m talking about MAKING the postseason, winning the division, having the Angels catch us, etc. That’s what everyone is worried about here.

I don’t have us as favorites in the playoffs, but that’s a long time away still. Who knows which players are healthy for us and everyone else by then?

There are no cupcakes in the postseason though.
We’re not talking postseason here. The whole discussion has been around the Astros and Angels passing us by in the regular season.

I’ll worry about how we stack up in the postseason when we get there.

I get that, but it's August now. Struggling against the better teams at this point in the season is a concern.

You're right, there's still two months to go and we don't know how things will go. but we have been trending the wrong way for several weeks now.

Over the last 2 months we have been a .500 team. I am not sure if that is conducive to making the postseason. We have one really good addition and several others have either been hurt or been less effective for us. Like I said earlier, losing Heim and maybe Eovaldi has me the most concerned.

Give me Verlander over Scherzer. To me that is an easy choice.
Easy based on…?

Scherzer has the lower career ERA as well as the better ERA from last season. He’s been half a run worse this season, but I don’t see how picking between those two is somehow an “easy” choice. They are awfully close.

I think he’s finished. He strikes me a guy that works quickly and gets what he intends to get and that’s it. Doesn’t strike me a s a down to the wire guy unless someone just all the sudden becomes available for cheap. Clearly they weren’t in on any bats or that would have likely been done already and I think they paid what they were willing to pay and landed the pitching they intended to and were done

Career numbers aren't nearly as important as how they have performed lately. That is the case with any older player.

Also heard that the contract of Verlander was the killing factor on Texas trading for him

Eovaldi isn’t lost, at least not yet. Bochy has publicly said that they aren’t worried at all about him, he will very likely be ready when his IL stint is over, and his injury is nothing like deGrom’s. So while I guess it’s possible he needs surgery, I’m not considering him “lost” until the news changes.

Heim is concerning, but even with him, it’s still TBD.

And we have 2 really good additions- Scherzer and Montgomery.

We simply disagree about Scherzer.

So does “lately” include last season (less than a year ago)? Because Scherzer easily bested Verlander last year. And this season, I don’t get why everyone is acting like Scherzer has been awful. By his standards, it’s a down year. But if you take away a few meltdown starts from him earlier in the year, he’s still a mid-to-high 3 ERA pitcher. He’s not some washed up bum.
