Tonight's start was Kohl Drake's sixth start at Hickory. He had one poor outing. In his other 5 he has averaged 5.1 innings per start and has given up a total of 5 earned runs in thise 5 starts. He has been very impressive this year.

I think the Rangers have kind of messed Urena around. He was pitching well but then after pitching on July 8th he next pitched on the 12th, then 20th, 27th and August 2nd. He has no real structure and I think it is affecting his results.

That's the way they did Bradford last year. It has to .make it difficult for them.

Drake was pitching in a park that is extremely hitter-friendly. Ashville was only shut out twice at home last year. Hickory has done it twice this week.

Hitting is the key to this team winning. They have been their own competition. Who knows all the answers to why they declined so much. The talent is there, proven fact.
Do we need new hitting coach? I doubt it. These players are professionals who have proven themselves as adequate hitters. They will slump but they seem to find a way out in short time looking at videos etc. Fact is no one can do it for them. They must do it themselves and they did last night for a very important win.

i should have said seem to have made up their minds. last night the HP ump at the Boston - Texas game called strikes on both teams that were so far outside or so low that it appeared that he was determined to call it before he saw it

Top minor league reliever Marc Church, is finally ready to begin a rehab assignment. He has been out since April. Most thought he was very impressive in Spring Training.
