Sox just walked it off against the A's!

As of July 5, the A's were 54-33, a whopping 21 games over .500 with just over half of the season played. On that day they traded for Jeff Samardzjia and Jason Hammel. Over the next 2 months they traded for Sam Fuld, Jon Lester, Geovany Soto, and Adam Dunn. Since acquiring those 6 players, their record has been 26-30. This leads me to three conclusions:

1) Sometimes you shouldn't mess with a good thing

2) A higher quantity of star players doesn't always make a team better

3) NEVER TRADE FOR CUBS PITCHING AT THE TRADE DEADLINE!!

Sound logic Will! I especially like #3.

That's possible. My point is I don't see them dumping JD in favor of anyone in the org. My guess is if they fired him they would clean house and a new GM would bring in his own staff.

I merely said that with Justin's post in mind. I wasn't presuming a firing.

JD is the president of baseball operations.

I believe what the suggestion here is, move JD into the President position solely, thus clearing the GM position for Levine.

:pound:....good one.

Seriously to me, it wasn't what they added, but what they subtracted which caused their mess. They had Cespedes as an anchor in the middle of their order, and thus tampered with the structure which put em in the lofty position they had earned.

Thus, like you said in point # 1 is totally correct.

Sox just walked it off against the A's!

I love it every time that team loses whether it's game 1 or 162, in a pennant race or in a game that has little relevance! Hope they fold like a house of cards down the stretch.

I think they are hoping to move Thad into the GM spot in order to keep most of the FO together, not sure of how much of a YES man Levine is but it would allow JD to still make all the decisions on baseball. I don't see JD relinquishing much control or decisions to Thad. Maybe Levine accepts the promotion and is elated with the title, or maybe he prefers a position with another organization where his input carries more weight.

Sure wish we could have gotten Gentry back for Soto instead of 100K

How misinformed or clueless is much of the Ranger fanbase?

In a poll of who should be the next manager in the DMN, Michael Young came in 2nd with 23% of the vote.

I know you liked him, as most of us did.

However, he was and is a 4th OF with no power, good speed/OF, who hit .250.

Robertson fills the roll fine really. Doesn't have Gentry's arm, but outhits him.

We play the A's 7 more times this season. We have nothing much to play for .....except we should make it our mission to ruin the A's chances of making the wild card game by beating them as often as we can. I would love nothing better than seeing these over achieving bastards sitting at home during the playoffs...

I hope we can knock them out of the postseason. That would be great.

The pressure on these guys must be great. With Seattle just a game back, every lose must be magnified. Go CWS!

I don't think any of us will be able to stand LA winning myself. Trout and Calhoun are already full of themselves and throw in CJ and Hammy with rings.

Two good pitches then a ridiculously bad, fat pitch.

Miss CJ and Weaver this series. We may not see CJ this year.

I've resigned myself to the fact that the Angels will win the division...I only hope they get their butts kicked by the Tigers, O's or Royals in the first round of the playoffs....
