He could still come around. He has has some health setbacks and he hasn't been strictly a relief pitcher for very long.

Honestly didn't know yesterday what I know today about him. Nice resume, good reference letters, etc., and have no problem whatsoever with him being our rudder-in-the-water for 2015.

Just not sure he has secured the position just yet.

I think he will be the coach next year. I hope Buechele is his bench coach. I hope Pettis and Magadan are fired. I think Maddux has a shot, but have a bad feeling we might lose him to the Astros.

If we have nothing else....and I'm pretty sure it's coming down to nothing else.....our BP can be stacked for next season.

Consider the candidates: Klein, Mendez, Patton, Ross, Tolleson, Scheppers, Ogando, Feliz, West, Knebel, Poreda and probably a few I've neglected.

If we have a bright spot from 2014, it's the potential BP for 2015 IMO.

I have a feeling a few of these might get stretched out. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Ogando gets a shot in the rotation again.

I asked this question when he came up. I wondered if he would get a start. He started his last game in the minors before being called up and pitched well.

There is no debate we need more power. It just normally doesn't come from the LO spot.

You know there is a very good chance that Choo is moving to RF next year anyway? So then will his level of power become unacceptable to you also?

While it is true that often left fielders don't have a lot of power, it is also true if you want to be an elite team you have to do things that most other teams don't do.

Cruz has played a lot of LF this year(when he isn't DHing which I guess was okay by him after all).

Cespedes plays LF and has power. Viciedo has played a lot of LF and has power. J. D. Martinez plays a lot of LF and has some power. Those are just some AL examples that I could come up with on short notice.

It may not be the norm, but to become an elite team you have to go above the norm. I want this team to return to elite status eventually so eventually I want them to replace both corner outfielders with guys who can hit with power. Maybe that is Mazara and Williams. I don't know. Maybe it is Mazara and Stanton. Maybe it is Cruz and Stanton.

When Ogando was healthy and in the rotation he was one of our best starters. Like you said his delivery makes that difficult, but I can see a scenario where he fills in for Perez. I hope after the debacle this year that JD has learned his lesson and gets us at least 2 starters, and Ogando becomes a fall back option. We have a lot of bullpen arms for next year. Klein looks like a starter to me. The experiment hasn't been great to us recently, but I think they'll try again. Only time will tell.

When he was healthy Ogando was an All Star starting pitcher. His health problems may prevent him from being good in the pen or in the rotation. He has encountered injuries in both roles though. Some seem to think he only gets hurt while starting.

Don't like that they think he'll be a .240 hitter. I'm not delusional. I don't expect .300, but would be disappointed if he was a .230-.240 hitter. I'm really hoping for .260-.270.
