The Rangers will need some super natural help to slow down the hot Angels. They are on fire and their bats look scary. Then again we are on a quest for 100!!! Sadly that happens to be losses. That little spit fuck Kole Kalhoun will continue his magical season against the Rangers. Maybe Guilder Rodriguez will get into the action. I have no clue what position he plays, but his name is awesome. Put him in TIM!!

He's a utility IF.

Rodriguez, age 31, is set to make his major-league debut after playing 1,095 games (a record for a player never appearing in the bigs, [ame=""]as Anthony Andro tweeted[/ame]) and 4,095 plate appearances in the minors ...
Rodriguez, a utility infielder, made his pro debut way back in 2002 in the lower rungs of the Brewers' system. He made his way to the Rangers organization mid-way through the 2009 season, and he's been there ever since, moving back and forth between the Double- and Triple-A levels. As Adam J. Morris of Lone Star Ball notes, Rodriguez has been much more than "just" an organizational soldier ...
He's been credited with having a huge influence on the careers of guys like Martin Perez and Rougned Odor, and being an 80 character guy who is the type of person you want in your organization.
Sure, there's a "reward" element to the promotion, but it's also likely the Rangers want Rodriguez's influence to do its work on the rebuilt roster in Arlington. Whatever the reasons, it's great to see a grinder and a solid citizen like Rodriguez get his chance after so long.

One thing not mentioned in the article is that Guilder cried quite some time when told of the promotion. Pretty cool stuff.

Tim should let him play all 9 positions in game 162. Start him at Catcher and go from there and pitch in the 9th inning.

The Orioles are “hesitant” about making a long-term commitment to Nelson Cruz. Though the O’s have recently had some light negotiations with Cruz’s representation about a new contract, it isn’t hard to see why the club would be wary of guaranteeing multiple years to a 34-year-old who is a defensive liability and has a PED history. Of course, Cruz’s bat looks as potent as ever, given his .862 OPS and a league-high 39 homers this season. As you would expect, a one-year “qualifying offer appeals to the Orioles,” Kubatko writes, though surely Cruz feels his production merits a longer deal.

Melky Cabrera has been scouted by at least one NL team for the last three weeks, Sportsnet’s Jeff Blair reports. One of those scouts tells Blair that his team could be willing to offer Cabrera something in the neighborhood of a four-year, $53MM contract in free agency this winter, a deal akin to what Jhonny Peralta received from the Cardinals last offseason. Peralta’s deal was front-loaded, and Blair opines that a similarly-structured deal could await Cabrera given that both players have a PED suspension on their records.

Expect the Rangers to engage the Blue Jays in trade talks for Jose Bautista, but Cafardo notes Texas may not have the pitching prospects to pry the All-Star slugger away from Toronto.

In the wake of manager Ron Washington’s surprising resignation, the Rangers are seeking stability in the front office. The club has begun discussing a long-term extension with General Manager Jon Daniels, a major league source tells Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News.
The Rangers are on the verge of a 100-loss season, but that hasn’t changed the ownership’s view of Daniels. There’s also a long to-do list this winter and it’ll make things easier if Daniels has a certain future. As Grant notes, Texas needs to find a new manager, at least two pitchers, a power hitter, potentially replace a coach or two who might land managerial jobs, and add to the recently depleted evaluation staff. On top of that, assistant GM Thad Levine could be a strong candidate GM jobs elsewhere.
The talks, according to Grant, could eventually lead to Daniels being named president of the club with a heavy involvement in baseball operations. That would allow the Rangers to install Levine as the GM and keep him from going elsewhere. The partnership would be similar to what the Cubs have with Theo Epstein as president and Jed Hoyer as GM.

That piece Grant wrote freaked out a lot of JD haters. I ask around for who they would like as a new GM and I don't get much of an answer. Kevin Towers is looking for a job....

The answer to that question could be Thad Levine.

Thad is part of the system in place, so I don't know why they would fire JD and replace him with Thad.

Damn, I completely forgot they gave him that title. I don't know what the plan is then. Maybe they just promote Thad to keep him from leaving.

That's possible. My point is I don't see them dumping JD in favor of anyone in the org. My guess is if they fired him they would clean house and a new GM would bring in his own staff.
