I cannot recall a Rangers pitcher looking this good in three games in a row. Not saying it hasn't, but I cannot recall it.

Martin Perez April 2014
2 shutouts and 1 8 inning game with 0 runs
26 inning scoreless

Is it time to extend Eovaldi yet?

Eovaldi has had pinpoint command. He was hitting his spots. Anywhere Heim had his glove Eovaldi was right on target.

I was looking at an article that The Atletic had this morning about guys on struggling teams who could potentially be traded. Only two relief pitchers who were mentioned, seemed remotely attractive for us to acquire, based on performance this year. They are Buck Farmer and Scott Barlow. Maybe Chapman as well -- maybe. I sure hope some more good relievers become available between now and the deadline.

What a great season this has been as a fan so far, especially after the last seven years.
I am enjoying this pitching rotation more than anything else. They're just absolutely dominating and keeping us in pretty much every game.
Hopefully deGrom gets back and stays healthy. Eovaldi has been almost as good as deGrom, think Perez has been getting sharper besides that last game, of course. Gray looks healthy and good. Dunning looks like a stud, too.

I'm not sure about Chapman. Can't tell if he's fool's gold or not this year.

Regardless of what happens, I'd like the Rangers to strike first (or early) on the market, rather than letting things develop and be left with lesser options.

I think we might find some decent pitchers for the pen, but I am not sure about finding a closer candidate if Smith falters.

MLB Power Rankings: Which red-hot division dominates the top 10?

5. Texas Rangers

Record: 22-14
Previous ranking: 8

It's a different hero every week for the still-in-first place Rangers. This time it's outfielder Leody Taveras, who delivered in a big way over a seven-day span ending Tuesday -- going 11-for-23 (.478) during that time frame while getting on base well over 50% of the time. It's been a different story for the Rangers on the mound, as closer Andrew Heaney gave up nine runs in 11⅓ innings over two starts. He's been wildly unpredictable in his first year with the Rangers, giving up at least two earned runs in five of his seven starts for a 5.25 ERA on the season. Without Jacob deGrom, Texas will need more from its pitching staff. -- Rogers

Nice to see ESPN showing some respect to the Rangers (typos be damned lol)

Looks like we have the highest scoring average minus any outliers below
