"Learn to control/spot the fastball and work off of that"..... Probably said by hundreds of Coaches over the years
I imagine the price starts with Carter or Acuna. As you can see a couple of them are going to cost you a healthy price (Doval and Diaz)
What ever it takes. This team is too good and close to not invest in missing links to the end goal.I imagine the price starts with Carter or Acuna.
Would you guys trade Evan Carter for Doval or Diaz and have a great closer under control through 2027?Looking at those teams on the list some Closers that may be worth kicking the tires on are:
(2.75 yrs) Ryan Helsley
(4.75 yrs) Camilo Doval
(4.75 yrs) Alexis Diaz
(1.5 yrs) Scott Barlow
In parenthesis is amount of team control left.
As you can see a couple of them are going to cost you a healthy price (Doval and Diaz) but there also about a dozen middle inning relievers that probably can be had for a decent price...
I would. Sitting on our thumb will not win the ultimate.Would you guys trade Evan Carter for Doval or Diaz and have a great closer under control through 2027?
I would definitely be tempted.
TJ surgery would have to be settled first. Would not commit otherwise. What if CY traded for both of those longterm controllable closers?
No, I didn't mean they are scheduled for surgery or need it presently, but it does happen to young pitchers a lot.TJ surgery would have to be setteled first. Would not commit otherwise.
I imagine the price starts with Carter or Acuna.
If I had Diaz controlled for that long I would want someone with a lot more promise than Huff to headline the deal.Reds need a 1B and backup C and some power I would dangle Huff and some pieces to see what they say...
I wouldn't even consider either of them in a trade right now. Acuna I think will be getting better (maybe not as good as his brother even though his brother says he's the better one of the two) but he will get better and can maybe fill another position. Carter has to fill the OF hole that I don't think they'll fill before he's ready. I wouldn't be surprised to see him as a late season callup if he stays steady all year...
I wouldn’t. The Rangers are weak in the outfield.Would you guys trade Evan Carter for Doval or Diaz and have a great closer under control through 2027?
I would definitely be tempted.

Trading Carter is crazy. He’s the biggest ranger prospect since profar. He will probably be a good major leaguer at worst and a star at best.I would. Sitting on our thumb will not win the ultimate.
If we are going to trade for someone who would be under control through 2027, there would be nothing holding us back from doing that now.
The other team doesn't need to wait because losing someone like that has little to do with what your team will do between now and the deadline.
The Rangers will have to give up a ton whether it is now or 2 months from now. The price will most likely be the same either way.
Of course, we still need at least one more competent set up man to team with Will Smith. Most likely a closer, a good set up man and another decent arm.
