It is a shame when the hitter is kicked in the butt for having a good eye at the plate. He took the pitch which is what he should have done.

Yes it is a shame and that umpire was so bad all game and it was so one-sided that Woodie got ejected and he rarely does that.

Calm down Solak has less than 100 plate appearances
He has done great but you are right as it is too early. I hope he continues but how many guys start off well and then level off.

I thought the ump was a little arrogant with Woody in their discussion. I think he should have started doing an Earl Weaver thing on him. HA!

Like Mr. Kelly said earlier, it is hard to remember the last time a prospect came up and did this well to begin his career with us. He was incredibly hot in AAA before coming up. This seems like a lot more than a fluke.

Regarding Solak, he will have close to a 1,000 OPS in his first 100 PA. I wonder how many guys we have had that had even an .850 OPS in their first 100 PA.

Neither Blalock, Young, Teixeira, or Gallo were close. Kinsler had a .949 after 100 PA. Hargrove put up an .877.

Mr. Solak seems to be leading the pack, with one exception. Chris Davis had a 1.032, but his was with 10 HR.

If Solak flames out after this kind of start, I think it would be the biggest Rangers flame out since Dave Hostetler. That is going back 37 years so I would say it is pretty rare. Lol

I’m not too worried about solak. The guy is just a good hitter. He seems to have traits that suit mlb hitters well like a good eye for example.

Solak has hit well everywhere he’s been. The guy can just flat out hit.

If they sit him just one game he is almost guaranteed to not lose his rookie status this year. I would love to see him get a shot at ROY next year.

Like I said I love the guy and do think he could be legitimate but I have seen stranger things happen. I mean they said he was the 4th Ranger to do something the other day (don't remember what it was) and the other 3 were garbage. But I think personally he is a keeper but we shall see. Next year will tell a lot.

You miss the point, he was declaring Solak one of their best offensive players for the season based on 100 plate appearances, no one said Solak isn't a good hitter

I would love for us to sign Cole, Rendon and Abreu and not ever be financially hamstrung afterwards. I just know it isn't going to happen. I do exercise some degree of optimism in how I think the future will unfold, but there is a limit to my optimism.
Oh I know that it isn't going to happen too but I like being optimistic about what could be.if it did. JD and the ownership are unlikely to do anything but we can hope

Yeah, I understand that when the best Ranger hitters for the season are considered that he won't have enough PA to be in the discussion. By the time I got in the conversation though, the discussion had evolved into whether he might just have started off well and then might level off. Maybe I was wrong in assuming "level off" meant something a little more negative than it was meant to be. Either way, it is an interesting discussion even if it did make a couple of twists and turns along the way. I definitely look forward to him playing 2B for us the next several years.

So guess we should try to hold off offering some ponies and try to extend him....

Some guys need a horse to ride and some guys say "hop on my back and ride me."

BTW. Just looking at the way Solak swings it it clearly evident he is a hitter, does not overswing uses the whole field. Rare swing and misses
The comp to MY is a good take.

He is likely an everyday starter ahead but it still might not be at 2B

he should be the starter at 2B next season and Odor should be at the far end of the bench

Evan thinks the Rangers are more likely to pursue Donaldson in the offseason than Rendon. That is exactly the kind of decision making that got us Choo and Fielder. Let's hope Evan is wrong again.

He has been great for Atlanta but you never know when he will be the Donaldson at the end of his time in Toronto plus him being with the Rangers would be awkward and for that reason probably not a good fit.
