On the expansion part

What 2 cities would y’all pick??

I’ll go with North E San Antonio or SW Austin.
And Nashville Tennessee

With Robo Umps coming in 2024 does someone like Kevin Parada, a reported offense first catcher, seem like a good pick for the Rangers?

The Padres have competitive balance pick overall number 39. They’re looking to shed some salary so they can add w/o going over the luxury tax.
Would it be worth taking on Blake Snell in the hopes he starts to rebound and provides solid innings this year and helps the team next year? As well as getting overall pick #39?

I’m sure we’d have to send 2 minor leaguers their way. Guys that maybe decent but guys we just don’t have room for. Like maybe Nick Solak and JP Martinez

Expansion will have to go hand in hand with realignment. Might see the Rangers in a division that actually makes sense.

San Antonio and Austin are the two largest cities without a team in their area.

That would make for a good 4 team division if they joined the Astros and the Rangers.

Maybe the Astros want Heim, Calhoun, Santana and ??
Would like to get Luis Garcia
With him having 4 and a half years of control left, he would most likely cost a lot more than that.

Heim has 4.5 years left too, and is technically more valuable than Garcia, but not really because pitching is hard to get. Which is why I added Calhoun who could help in the OF, Santana out of the pen with 3.5 years left, also technically more valuable than Garcia as well, based off of WAR.
And the ? could be anyone..

One person may see it as an over payment, another not enough

I think it would cost more. We gave up Claudio last time and the thinking is that the cost will be higher this year. It might be a little cheaper to trade in the next round of picks.

Round A (after the first round)

Orioles
D-backs
Royals
Pirates
Guardians
Rockies
Padres

Round B (after the second round)

Marlins
Twins
A's
Rays
Tigers
Brewers
Reds
Mariners

Heim is not that valuable to this point. They need the help we discussed the other day, but I doubt they place that kind of value on Heim or Calhoun. You have left out Lowe from our discussion the other day.
