Tepid's bewilderment amuses me. So many have overrated just how bad striking out is.

In today's analysis, walks are thought of too highly on the offensive side, and strike outs are seen as being worse than they actually are. These theories are pervasive throughout a lot of baseball and are held by folks ranging from common fans to front offices. I just can't agree.

They also have pitcher high school Jackson Jobe going third and Rocker not going until sixth. They have Lawlar falling all the way to seventh.

Strikeouts will keep you from grounding into double plays but with the Rangers they manage to do both quite well.

No, no out is likable. I just think some dislike it to a greater extent than they should. It also seems like some folks overvalue walks.

Guess I don't really understand the mindset. A strikeout is a bad result. A walk is a good result. Are there worse results than a K? Yes. Are there better results than a BB? Yes. There are even situations when a K can have a positive influence on the game and a BB can have a negative influence. Part of what makes the game so wonderful.

But from a purely statistical standpoint... K = bad. BB = good. At least for this armchair analyst.

One thing I've noticed about Adolis... when he was on his tear in May, he had a tendency to chase the high fastballs. I've noticed him laying off of them frequently recently. If this dude can keep it up, what a solid foundation for the lineup for years to come.
