It's a matter of recognition for both the player and the team. 49-27 and we could end up not having a position player at the ASG. Given Ian's merits he should at least represent the team. Even Beltre. I remember years where the AL starting team was wall to wall Yankees and those players minus Jeter stunk.

There are far better candidates in the AL than Beltre at 3B, in all fairness there's 3-4 having better seasons than him,

but agreed about Desmond, he's easily one of the 3 best OFers, even if he doesn't get elected he should be going
