Realistically, we need to add 2 starting pitchers to compete down the stretch. Even assuming literally every last pitcher we have is 100% healthy, we really only have 3 legit starters in Hamels, Darvish, and Lewis. I don't trust Holland, Griffin, or Perez at this point to either right the ship or stay healthy (or in Holland's case both).
A healthy Colby is our only hope providing we add another starter and possibly two

I doubt Prince ever plays with Rangers again. I don't think he will be ever medically cleared on our end if insurance money is available

I love turning the tv on and hoping to see us up on teams on the scoreboard and come to find out we are down 4. WTF

And he won't retire. We end up releasing him and he'll go somewhere else. Too much ego.

Was it the 2014 Oakland A's that had a big lead at the AS Break and then shit the bed the entire 2nd half of the season?

Seems were like 4 legit moves from being legitimate threats for a deep post season run.

May be too many to pull off this year without trading every decent prospect we have

2 starters, 1 reliever, and 1 middle of the order bat... sounds about right to me.

Now all JD has to do is trade for Moore, Santana, Miller, and Lucroy without giving up Profar and we're all set!

If it doesn't require Pro, it will just about require every other prospect we got

I'm probably letting this season's performance cloud my judgement, but I'm actually warming to the idea of trading lesser prospects for a couple of #3-4 types (Santana, Cashner, Hellickson) and then making one more trade using one of two of our big trade chips for either Miller or Lucroy.

I guess I just don't see any aces available to spend a Joey Gallo or Dillon Tate on this year, so why not get a few ok guys to at least replace our incapable ones (Holland and Perez).

I know. I was just being sarcastic to underscore what a tough task JD is faced with.

If Mazara could get his shit together again that would be awesome.

Know the feeling. Hey Perez gave us 6 full innings using 82 pitches. That's what we want from him...minus the runs of course.

Ah baseball that creation of man which makes us all go crazy.

I understood the sarcasm and I agree with it being such a tough task that it may not be prudent or feasible, for that matter. May be best just to play it out and try and earn a WC spot and an early exit, and hope for better next year

I wonder if AJ Preller would take Martin Perez and a really weak prospect for Andrew Cashner and a reliever?

I know that's pretty terrible asset management to suggest such a deal and give up a young and controlled arm for such a middling return. But that's just how much I've really soured on Perez. JD likely has a more level-headed approach regarding Perez.
