Gonna say, Astros just lost. Crawler can step off the ledge for another night
Ms lost too. Quintanna had a good outing. Pitched one run ball for 6 innings. We could use some loving like that Morp and Borp now and then.

Ah baseball why do we love ya?:-)

People have short memories... the team, before his last 2 starts, had won 8 of his starts in a row
Doesn't matter if the team had won his previous 15 starts. Murph was saying that he has been hoping for a while for Perez to grow up. His inability to control his temper and tendency to lose focus remain issues.

I was talking mostly about him growing up and just pitching vs walking around the mound and pouting when he didnt get calls or his defense let him down.

Do I believe he loses composure at times? Yes

But I don't see this losing of temper and pouting y'all keep speaking of

Prior to this huge slump, I was only in favor of a trade if it brought us a TORP. But right now, I'd gladly take Santana, Odorizzi, Cashner, or any other half-decent #3/4 who could give us 6-7 innings without giving up 5+ runs.

6 innings, 3 earned runs allowed. Is that really too much to ask for? For our current #4-5, it is.

Well, it's there. Eric Nadel has talked about it on the air, and Perez himself has admitted he needs to learn to keep his emotions in check.

Perhaps, and I don't doubt it to a point, but I don't see it being much more of an issue for him than it is for many pitchers

But once again I totally agree that he totally loses focus and lets games get away from when things don't go his way, but I can't say that I've ever really noticed anything in his behavior that would tell me that... just the results

Not worth shit. He's proven he can translate to the MLB level. Whether ta between the ears or not I'm done with him.
It is actually one of his 2 best games at AAA this season. He has struggled there somewhat as well this year.
We need help Bennie. Outside Hamels and Yu we don't have one credible pitcher in our rotation at the present. Perez is healthy and not reliable. We have a good shot of winning the division and making the playoffs so why would we not acquire a SP. Surly you are not suggesting we stick with AJ Colby Derek Nick and Chi Chi.:nono:
We need pitching to make it until Colby and Derek come back. I am just saying that you cannot proceed with the assumption that they are not coming back and that Yu will not stay healthy.

When Perez has a bad outing it is blamed on his lack of composure. It is the easy thing to say. If someone else did the same they would not get the accusation. With Holland they used to blame it on him losing focus. The herd mentality kicked in and everyone believed what a few had made a guess at.

Perez's ERA is just over 4.00 and I don't doubt it gets below that soon. That is who he is for now. Everyone says when these guys are out for the surgery he had that it takes a year to fully recover after they come back so I am not quite sure what everyone was expecting from him. He has had 33 starts since coming back and that is pretty close to a year's worth of starts.

The team is playing so badly right now that the Oakland A's are the only reason we have a division lead at all. Just win tomorrow and get the hell out of Anaheim.

And managing.
Agree. Just irritates me that you have a guy as bad as Lohse is and you think you just have to get 5 innings out of him. He started great but you knew sooner or later the wheels would come off. When they started to come off he should have taken him out while the Rangers were up 5-4. We were fortunate at that time to be ahead. But Banister wasted the BP for nothing. And Lohse needs to be let go. It is time to manage to win games. Not just sit there and be a rah-rah guy.

I was wore out yesterday and fell asleep. Therefore I missed most of the game.

Lohse didn't pitch great, that's for sure. But looking at the stats, it strikes me that we got 9 hits, two walks, plus received an error, yet we only scored 5 runs against Lincecum in his 5 innings. We were 1-7 with RISP.

We need to win some of these games in spite of pitching, 10-8 don't we?

You can thank Moreland and Rua for much of that in each of their 1st two ABs last night. We had better get someone else who can pitch at least 6 innings and give up 3 runs as Will stated. We would have won a few games with that type of performance this month.

Perez has a tendency to let things snowball on him. If you don't see that I'm not sure what game you're watching.

6 should be enough to win.
Yes. Any other argument is invalid. They scored enough runs the past two games to win both of them, and the pitching shit the bed. Texas has an over 8 ERA in July. Don't give a fuck what the offense is doing if the pitching is allowing over 8 runs every 9 innings.

okay it's 7.17 ERA for July...
