I would be interested to see what he could do out there with an entire ST to work on it like Desmond got this year. Whatever he could do this year in what little chance he will have won't prove much about his potential out there.
Showcasing him? Somethings going to give.

What a questionable lineup. But maybe it's the best we can muster under the day-to-day conditions we're dealing with.

Choo can't stay upright and now he's rusty again. MM hasn't been worth his weight in salt overall. Rua and Maz have both taken a southward-turn. Chirinos is what-he-is, and frankly I'm not positive what this even means anymore.

And then there's the pitcher......Ghee
I would hope we would knock Lincecum around though. It would be really a sad situation if we don't. Just too bad we do not have a decent pitcher going up against him though. As I said a few weeks ago it seems right now we are back to having to win games by putting up a lot of runs like in the Oates days.

Rangers once again look at Jurickson Profar as an outfield possibility | SportsDay

Profar started four games in left field in 2013 as the Rangers looked for more opportunities to play him then. But after shoulder issues popped up in the spring of 2014, which eventually led to surgery, the Rangers shelved that project. He did not work in the outfield this spring or at Triple-A Round Rock.
He was rather scary out there. Did not adapt to it like Rua and Desmond have.

I don't think they would try him a what is essentially a brand new position to showcase him. I think they are finding out for themselves which ways he can fit in in the future and for the rest of this year. To me trying him in the OF makes me think he isn't going to be traded.

Think so too, Bennie. Perhaps more to next year where we may lose Desmond and to part time with Choo. Not sure as why he's doing it now.

He will probably be scary some again this summer. He really needs a ST to work on it in order to accurately judge his ability out there I would think

I mentioned that a couple of months back as a possibility. I really think they should just go ahead and trade Odor and let him play 2B, but I can live with keeping both of them and Elvis as well. Maybe he plays a year all over the diamond and then moves into Beltre's spot in 2018 while Beltre slides over to DH/1B.

What took so long.
Fascinated they are benching Fielder. Makes the line-up worthy however the results. Now PH Profar. Leave Fielder pouting somewhere.

they threw Napoli out there in LF, I doubt they think twice about throwing Profar out there, if its just to get his bat in the lineup

At least Prince is not in it, that is a start

He was clueless in 2013 but still wasn't as bad as napoli

I have my doubts about him playing OF, but he transitioned pretty well to 1b do anything is possible

Guys, does anyone really think Fielder being benched tonight is a sign of things to come?

I would like to say yes but me thinks not. Would be great if Gallo and Profar were playing and Moreland and Fielder were not.

To be fair, Moreland has been solid lately, and against RHP pretty much all year.

You are right and I was going to add that but decided to stop typing. He had to sit for a while and has looked better since. But he has done that a time or two before this year and then went back to slumping. He has not had one of those prolonged streaks that he has had in the past. Now would be a good time for one.

I still wouldn't mind Moreland being traded.
