I would imagine anyone with his abilities would rather play everyday at SS than to play all over the place. I don't really see this as him throwing down some kind of gauntlet or anything though.

Agreed, just saying he would be open to playing everyday at the position he's played most of his life, i think just about every young major leaguer would say this

Here is a portion of an article with some quotes from Profar. To me it doesn't sound like he is demanding anything.

"I'm willing to do anything to play right now," Profar said. "I'm OK with this for now, but for next year I think I'm going to play shortstop. I want to be a shortstop."

And that might also mean that he will be somebody else's shortstop. Profar has been aware of his name in potential trade talks dating back to the spring. And before he injured his shoulder, his name was regularly on the trade rumor wire once the Rangers had Elvis Andrus signed to a long-term deal.

He said he is OK with the idea of being traded.

"If my name is out there, it means I'm playing very well, so I'm going to be happy about that," Profar said. "The rest just is what it is."

No. Just no. I wouldn't waste the lowest-rated minor leaguer in our entire system on any of them. Even if our goal is just to acquire an innings eater on the cheap, we could do better than that.
