I called him a malcontent when we signed him, so this is no big loss. Really wish the Cowboys would’ve resigned him instead of us. We were so desperate to get him we gave him an injury guarantee that Dallas wouldn’t. Sad.

Also very odd to just outright release him and not try to find a trade partner unless we tried and no one wanted him.

And before anyone says anything, the other two people we could’ve had that year are Chandler Jones, who something is clearly wrong with and Von Miller, who has missed about as many games as Gregory the past year and a half.

So essentially, we could’ve paid Gregory to suck, Jones to be unreliable, or Von to never play.

Or none of the above. In fairness to Miller, you really can’t predict injuries. When he was on the field, he was a definite difference maker for the bills. His contract was steep though. Instead we paid Gregory to never play and suck balls when he did. Gregory never showed he deserved that kind of money. He was a mediocre player imo with plenty of red flags. It was a desperation signing and a complete waste of money. Should’ve spent it elsewhere to a viable lineman on either side of the ball

Paying for the hit this year when he sucks balls already isn't bad. Net 3-4 million savings in 2024.
I don't like the team making these moves though while dumbass still has a job though.

Getting Browning back soon makes this easier.

Without the cap hit Gregory wasn't giving us anything anyway and next year when FA helps his cap hit will be way down by cutting him. It doesn't help our cap this year but it really isn't as big of a deal when you look at it for next year and the fact he wasn't giving us much anyway.
