Maybe BB isn't the GOAT some think he is.
Or maybe he’s let that GOAT shit go to his head when he thinks he can seamlessly place a DC in the OC role and have a special teams coordinator coach his QBs.

I think he was.
But just like all the greats. Eventually it passes you by. Burn out, whatever.
Belichick is like Parcells where he wants "his" guys, more than getting the guys you should get.

There are few people in the NFL that I have less respect for than Joe Judge. You don't tell your starters to run a hurry-up offense when you're down 5 TDs with 6 minutes left. You don't put your players health at extra risk trying to make yourself look statistically less bad.

...and that was before the 3rd & 10 QB sneak debacle.

I think he's universally despised. Just a toxic human being that blames everyone else for his mistakes.

How that arrogant asshole, that glossed himself "A Leader Of Men" ever got a head coaching job is beyond me.

It seems like Belichick might just be hanging around to get past Halas and Schula to be at the top of the wins list now. Nothing more.

FOX Sports' Ralph Vacchiano reports the idea of Daniel Jones getting $40 million per season this offseason "isn't crazy it might even be likely."

Giants owner John Mara made it clear he views Jones as their quarterback while GM Joe Schoen said the team wants Jones back next year. The Giants are unlikely to get a discount from Jones after not picking up their team-option, which would have paid Jones $22 million in 2023. With the franchise tag an expected $32.5 million, Jones may be targeting the $40 million APY Matthew Stafford got from the Rams in March. The Giants want to extend Jones over tagging him but will be in a cap crunch with RB Saquon Barkley needing a new contract. Signing Jones before the start of free agency is the top offseason priority for the Giants.

as stupid as it is. That is the rate to sign QBs these days. Either sign them or start again.

This is the way it is until they decide to fix this ridiculous process.

Veteran NFL pay is based on what you expect the player to do in the future rather than what they've done in the past. However, I don't see how teams expect a QB with 1 good quality year and multiple poor years on their record to suddenly maintain the good quality. Smith in Seattle looked fundamentally solid so maybe he's an exception. Jones? I'm not buying in. If I was a GM i'd want there to be some chance of the player outperforming the contract. No chance of either QB outperforming a $30M contract.

The Athletic's Vic Tarfur reports the Raiders have not granted Derek Carr permission to seek a trade.

The Raiders have little time to work out a trade for Carr, who can veto any trade that doesn't meet his liking. Carr's agent, Tim Younger, declined an interview with The Athletic to speak on the matter, but Carr and his agent have reportedly not provided the Raiders with a list of teams he'd be interested in joining. The Raiders have a deadline of February 15th to either deal Carr or cut him, thanks in part to the $40.4 million in guaranteed money that would become locked in at that time. It's possible the team could opt to cut him for a dead cap hit of $5.625 million and nothing in return, but that seems like a less-than-ideal approach for a team that should be able to fetch a respectable haul for the veteran quarterback.
