Meanwhile, down the thruway in Rochester we only got less than an inch, and most of it was just constantly blowing around. We've avoided lake effect snow off of Lake Ontario for the most part thus far this winter, would require more winds out of Canada. Otherwise that just all gets dumped on Jamestown. The snow was so bad today in Orchard Park the Bills had to cancel practice.
I'm about 20 miles away, and only got a few inches of snow here, but the wind has been blowing 30-40 mph most of time.
They got more like 30 inches there, and there just aren't enough passable roads yet for players to get to the stadium.

Expanding the 53-man active roster probably isn't the answer. That will just allow stronger teams to stash more talent. I remember the Rams after a Super Bowl season having 5 player that were cut at the initial 53-man roster cut being claimed to other teams active rosters. If the NFL wants to go down that route it would be better to have a smaller overall game day roster plus an additional game day squad of ST only players who could only play on 4th down and kickoffs. Another alternative would be to have an active 49-man roster plus as many drafted rookies by that team as each team wanted to keep. A better solution would be expanded PS squads and increasing the numbers of possible promotions from 2 per game to 'unlimited'. (This would be especially useful for TNF). This would stop teams have to play players with short-term injuries, waive them with an injury designation, or put them on short-term IR. Limiting the number of possible returns from IR to 8 was also short-sighted. The Rams are 1 of several teams who have used all their return from injury designations and other 'now healthy' players on IR will miss the rest of the season.maybe this greedy league will soon allow expanded rosters cause this game with expanded games has become all about who got hurt each week.
your posts are always well worth the read. I will just say to the above. Fine, so be it. I don't care how they expand accessibility to players as they drop like flies weekly and at greater numbers as the season rolls on. I'd prefer teams talent pool available KNOWING the system trumps some random guy lifting weights to stay in shape.Expanding the 53-man active roster probably isn't the answer. Expand to 63. At some point in the future there will be 18 games and these teams just barley get to the playoffs healthy.maybe this greedy league will soon allow expanded rosters cause this game with expanded games has become all about who got hurt each week.
The problem with expanding the roster to 63 is that you're just adding 10 PS players to the active roster. It increases the wage bill by $4.5M+ for players who likely won't see the field, and who won't make a difference if they do see the field. The roster increase probably doesn't help if you have 2 or more injuries at the same position and it reduces the quality of alternative FAs. Teams need greater freedom in promoting PS players or adding FAs without sending players to IR.
The key point to me is that you can only promote 2 per week without moving someone else off the active roster. If you already have several players carrying injuries adding 2 PS players might well not be enough if you have a TNF game. Players who might be ok for Sunday likely won't be ready by Thursday. Teams aren't going to add significant numbers of PS players if they're not going to play so the 2 player limit isn't really needed. Here are the PS rules...I think they are a bit too restrictive as far as how many can be elevated to the active roster.
