Bo Nix has played better than most of us expected him to play. But I'll take Jayden Daniels every time.
Opinions and assholes. We all have them.
Not his first act of thuggery"Explanation", lol. Doesn't understand that his role is not to hit the other player as hard as he can, but to complete the tackle as quickly as possible. He launched after Lawrence began his slide and sent a forearm high into the QB's neck and head area. Suspension coming.
should be 6 games. Not his first act of thuggery
I love when people held themselves accountable and put out some phony victimhood apology.
Prayers your way Big Guy.
I think the QB slide is dumb and should be taken out of the game. It exposes you to more danger when you slide that late. The defender started his tackle just about the same time as Lawrence started to slide. It looks close even in slow motion. Yes, he had his forearm out, but I believe he was attempting to knock the ball out because that is where the ball would be if the QB didn't slide.
The pearl clutching by supposed football fans is ridiculous. It's a violent sport and it was a bang bang play.
Your post is at least 8 years behind the times. Rightly or wrongly QBs are protected from this type of hit. The defender is required to slow down so that he can stop or peel aside if necessary. On the plus side he leads with his hands so there's no direct hit to the helmet or hit with the defender's helmet - but he can't just dive through. Doing so makes hitting the back of the QB's head into the ground an inevitability.I think the QB slide is dumb and should be taken out of the game. I agree with your post but QBs like Mahomes and Allen fake sliding or fake running out of bounds so much that players stop trusting QBs.Your post is at least 8 years behind the times. Every team tries to exploit the rules to their advantage. I don't think anyone likes the sliding rules, (and many of us hate them), but the clarity of them is better than the ambiguity of not having them. I wouldn't be against fake slides being classed as unsportsmanlike behaviour with a 15 yard penalty. I don't like fake spikes either. However, unless or until that happens we either protect QBs or we have more seasons like 2023 where multiple QBs miss multiple games. The bottom line is you can't justify flagrant breaches of the rules just because you don't like the rules.I agree with your post but QBs like Mahomes and Allen fake sliding or fake running out of bounds so much that players stop trusting QBs.
If I was a defender against Mahomes, I’d hit him every time because you don’t know if he’s going down or out of bounds.
Your opinion is that Lawrence slid late. I wouldn't agree and nor does the guy who created that YouTube video. Lawrence was 5 yards from the defender when he began his slide. Defenders rushing the passer have considerably less distance between them and the QB when they have to pull up after the pass has gone. The rules aren't there to be fair. The rules are there to protect QBs, because those are the players that generate the NFL's income. There are lots of rules I don't like. The rules concerning slides are definitely amongst them, but disliking unfair rules doesn't mean players can break them.Lawrence definitely slid late, though. He was trying to get the first down. It's not fair that a defender has to slow down because QB's don't always slide or go out of bounds. At this point, we should just blow the play dead when a QB is past the line of scrimmage in order to protect everyone.
Id say Allen is a whole degree better as an athlete than Mahomes so players generally do hit Mahomes but Allen I've seen pass rushers just bounce off of him or he'll hurdle or something.I agree with your post but QBs like Mahomes and Allen fake sliding or fake running out of bounds so much that players stop trusting QBs.
