The centers everyone is mentioning are better fits for a zone blocking scheme. The Rams are man/power blocking team, correct?

Rams will need to address the O-line in free agency with at least 1 signing if not 2. 3 rookies on the line plus GRob still developing, along with the oft-injured Saffold will put Bradford back on the disabled list quickly.

I would lean towards trading down in 1st round to pick up at least an extra 2nd rounder. Draft top OL/WR in the 1st, QB and OL in the second, then fill in CB, OLB/ILB, OL, WR (if not in the 1st) with best available in the rest of the draft.

I agree. Would love for them to sign a FA center. Unfortunately they are still talking to Long. I guess they are seeing if he will restructure and play RT. Bad idea move on from him.

What are the Rams FA option for Center because I agree that things look fairly bleak with the draft. Barrett Jones actually playing would be nice.

It's a pretty good class for free-agent centers. I like the guy from Oakland he's only 25 and Kansas City has a stud too. B. Jones couldn't find his way on the field with a crippled wells out there. Hes a bust

Talking to Long is fine if he restructures as well. If he's healthy, he'll should be solid at RT.

Top 2 FA centers are Wisniewski (Raiders) and Hudson (Chiefs), both 26. De La Puente (Bears, 30) could be another option, albeit more short-term. DLP injured his ankle in November, so there are injury concerns as well.

We should sign Wisniewski to a great deal then say he failed his physical at the last second.

On 2nd thought, we should just sign him. He's good.

D.J Humphries OT from Florida really looked good and some on the nfl network said he would be the #1 OT come draft time!! La'el Collins looked real good too. Schreff looked good but tweaked his hammy. This draft doesn't have a top 5 OT this year but a lot of solid depth.

Yea I agree Cougar. I am not quite sold on Scherff as I once was manly because he doesn't seem to handle blazing speed. I am liking Peat alot these days but it doesn't matter who I like. Only who the Commish likes.

yeah his ability to handle the speed rusher at LF tackle in the NFL has always been the question. but the good thing about him he's so mean and crazy strong he will be a dominant Guard which we need if he can't play tackle. Im sure he could play RT with no problem. I like guys that can play both guard and tackle much less of a chance to bust not to mention when someone goes down he can fill multiply positions like Saffold.

Like I stated earlier, I'd be content with either Peat for a RT job or Scherff for a G/T slot. Both would be an upgrade for sure.

I am watching the NFL Combines on NFL Network and everyone is raving about D.J. Humphries with supposed best feet of any tackle. Apparently he wowed them. They are also raving about Brian Bulaga. The pundits are comparing Humphries to D'Brickashaw Ferguson taken a few years back by the Jets. Haven't heard much on Scherff and Peat though.

Mike Mayock is heaping the superlatives on a Mitch Morse, O-lineman from Missouri! Apparently he had a great day in Indy as well.

The O-lineman appear to be finished and the TEs are on the field which is not for this thread. High marks went to Humphries, Bulaga, Morse, and Collins, not necessarily in that order.

All guys that haven't been mocked anywhere near the 1st round (other than Collins). This is why I think the Rams can wait on OL and use the 1st round to draft for talent elsewhere (WR, CB, OLB).

We have the O-line in the shape that is in because we have had that attitude about the O-line draft for a decade or more, Shopson. I can tell you, the old LA Rams routinely took O-lineman in the first three rounds and they were known for great O-lines.

At some point in time, you have to pick the blue-chipper that is right there in front of you and pick up these other types you refer to later. We seem to have the process reversed and we have missed a lot of excellent O-lineman that has us needing to revamp the O-line.

First three rounds is fine, I just don't see the value at #10 when their left tackle is in place (and will be unless he proves incapable). It's not like the Rams haven't spent early picks on OL in the past decade, just not wisely (and definitely not under Snead). They did get complacent until their guys got old, which left them without guys to step in when needed.

2014: Robinson #2
2010: Saffold #33
2009: Smith #2
2008: Greco #65
2005: Barron #19

I would rather trade down from #10 and get more picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds where many of these O-linemen will be much better value (unless Jameis or Mariota slides to #10 of course).

Cue Billy Joel's "Pressure" intro!! LOL

I am a fan of any of the top 3 linemen, but after yesterday I would take Kevin White at #10 (or a couple spots further down) before I would take Peat. If Scherff and Collins are gone, it would be a mistake imo to pass on White.
Daniel Jeremiah from NFL Network just released his Mock 2.0 and has us taking White at #10.
So maybe something like this?? Trade down in the 2nd and get a 3rd and a 6th lets say. Of course we would need to either restructure Long or resign Barksdale to play RT and then grab an mid to late round OT as well.

1- White
2- Cann or Dismukes
3- Grassu or Koundjio
3- Petty

His arm length is going to hurt him and generally explains his reps at the combine. I do think he'll get drafted as a G in the 6th or 7th.
