We are going to have pretty close to five 3rd round picks this year (our original picks and then all the comp picks), UVA. I would go with an O-lineman in the third like say Sewell, Dickerson, and/or Leatherwood because we will probably trade our second pick in the Goff trade. WE could then draft a speedy receiver and a QB in the same third round.

Since there is no NFL Combine this year due to Goodell's falling to the politicization of Covid, the Senior Bowl this Saturday is going to be the Combine for everyone. And because the Rams like to see the draftable players in actual competition against their peers (like last year when the Rams didn't go to the combine and that is how we got Noteboom), this Saturday will have the McSnead juggernaut watching.

As long as we could also pick up some linebacker help in that area as well. That’s been a need for quite a while now.

That Parsons LB from Penn State would be a nice draft pick but he will be gone by the time the third round comes around.

I'm worried on what the salary cap will do to the number 1 defense. And with a new coach coming in. Oh man.

Yep unfortunately I think we are going to lose a lot of key guys on defense! Maybe its time to start playing more 4-3, we've been weak at LB for years but continue to play a lot of 3-4, its "kind of" worked, we've had a good D, but we have ZERO stud LB's

We've been in salary cap crunch for years, which player have we regretted losing? Littleton look like a big loss, he sucked on the Raiders, while the Rams defense improved.

We will lose JJ, but we will be fine, let him chase the money, there are only 3 irreplaceable people on this team. Aaron Donald, Ramsey and McVay.

He was the play caller. He would be a huge loss.

We certainly have talent at safety if we let JJ walk. I just hope he doesn’t go to someone in the NFC West

By getting rid of that albatross of a Goff contract, we have dead cap money this year of 22.4 million plus Cooks payment. WE save 12.6 million and the word is JJ will be signed. They may even convince Floyd to stay with a modest pay increase. WE have a Floyd replacement already if Floyd decides to walk if we can keep both of them healthy: OKO on the right and Lewis on the left side.

Right now we not only have re-signing issues but health issues on the D. Three guys we can't seem to keep healthy and whom the Rams are depending on to fill the gaps: OKO, Lewis, and Kiser. Perhaps the off-season condition program will help and if they don't improve, you all now know what McVay will do with them.

Those guys you mention are good for depth, but in all honesty i can't see them becoming full time starters since they stay hurt so much; it's a reason why they fell in the draft. Kiser missed about 10% of his tackles at ILB, that is pretty huge considering the position he plays so IMHO we need to upgrade the interior seriously. Joseph day came on really strong this year and surprised me! I talked alot of shit about the guy but he was doing his thing as PFF graded him out at 83. Is he going to walk or do we have him under contract? I'd like to see us go more 4-3 than 3/4 with Lewis- Fox - Brockers - AD on passing downs; with Floyd possibly coming back that only leaves 2 LB holes to fill.

Well Morris is going to have to have at least a top five D like he had in Tampa with Tony Dungy. A tough D and a commitment to the run still wins championships and McVay is going to have to get that through his genius brain.

Whatever you do Rams, Please do not put Stafford behind a weak O-Line without good back ups and a good running game. Don't make us miss Goff. Don't make Stafford think he is still in Detroit.

That's all I ask. :heh:

The Rams have this dude in their sights. He is a bigger version (weight only) of Blythe. I don't know why the Rams don't even seem to look at a guy like Dickerson who is a beast at 6'6" 330lbs. It is conceivable that Dickerson could fall to us in the second round. I suppose McVay likes shorter Centers so as not to impede the field vision of the QB.
