I think it's a middling line now. It was top ten end of last year. Trading Zeitler was a bad move
You have a good pass rush already and a bad OL and you trade a very good OG for a DE. It just reeks of stupidity. I said this after the trade on here and one or two (maybe most?) of the Browns fans were calling it a great move for Cle and I just was perplexed they could think that.

I get the Steelers are having a down year but I've seen absolutely nothing from the browns in these 3 games to suggest they're a lock to win those 2 games
Not saying it's a lock, just saying it'd be a very bad idea to write off the Browns after a slow start.

I agree. It's 1-2. They are a late completed pass from being 2-1. Don't throw dirt on them just yet. I suspect it won't take too many wins to get that last WC in what looks like a weak AFC outside of a couple of teams

Well at the time they didn't have Richardson but I agree it doesn't look like the right move

Looks like you can change all the names on the back of the jersey and all of the coaches, but it's always going to be the same old Browns...

I think Mayfield just isn't very good and I think the play calling is horrible. But, it's only 3 weeks so the season is still young...

I'm not giving up on Mayfield just yet. He only started his 16th career game last night. Hopefully the OL play improves. When he got the ball outta his hands quickly he looked good last night. When he held onto the ball he had problems.

A couple things stand out after that game:

1. Kitchens' playcalling needs to be better. Plain and simple. In this game particular that draw up the middle on 4th is inexcusable and I believe he said the same.

2. The OL isn't good. Now, they were playing one of the best DL's in the NFL and a couple injuries to the OL but still.

3. Penalties need calm down a bit, they are getting better and I do admit it seems like when the Rams had a clear penalty like that PI, it wasn't called. Still not sure what is up with that.

4. Baker needs to get better at staying in the pocket, a couple instances where he ran out of the pocket when he didn't need to. Last night it was bad though bc he had no time, and I do like the playcalling at times getting the ball out of this hands quick bc Kitchens knew he wasn't going to have time.

The turning point in the game was when the Browns had the ball in Rams territory down 3 late in the 3rd and they had a penalty (The Rams had a clear PI penalty so it should have been offsetting)...WHY THE FUCK do you not challenge that? They would get an extra down and who knows what would happen. I will say the Rams defense was stout last night and was surpised the Browns hung in that long with that secondary deleted and bad OL play (pass blocking mainly). The offense wasn't horrible but just not very consistent. Overall, I like how they fought the Rams just had better playcalling and more talent on the field in the end.

Not writing them off but they going to be in deep shit if they're 2-6 or 3-5 at the halfway point

Well they didn't have their entire secondary and had a chance to tie the game at the end....I'm not sure that is anything to be very worried about. Everyone knew their schedule was front-loaded and the back was pretty weak. Injuries don't help that either. I thought their defense looked pretty good for having so many players out, OL looked bad but they also had 2 starters out so if injuries and inconsistent play continues it could be a long season.

Playcalling is awful.
Kitchens needs to be better.
OL needs to be better.
Baker needs to be better.

Hard for a young QB to be better though when OL is inconsistent early in the season and playcalling has been pretty bad, no excuses though.

Next week is huge and it won't be easy but if they can somehow get a win...they are tied for the division lead. I will take that all day.

I read back what I wrote in your quote. I totally agree and the way I wrote that was totally wrong. I shouldn't have said he "isn't very good" because I don't think we know who he is exactly yet. Also, I've only seen parts of about 6 of his games in the NFL and in those few games he hasn't looked as good to me as many seem to think. I guess I was focusing more on the Baker hype train. I think OBJ is one of best Offensive weapons in the game and even Eli found ways to rip apart defenses with him with a worse OL than Cle and with lesser other talent on the field (pre-Barkley). I am not an expert on Mayfield because I haven't seen enough of him and really he hasn't even played enough. I guess more I'd say that I don't think he looks like the QB RIGHT NOW that many assumed he already was. I didn't like the way he ran backwards in the face of pressure. It's just so hard to make a play that way and he did it a few times last night. He certainly can improve (and likely will) and be fantastic. He throws a great ball too. AND...it's been 3 games. The QB rankings and NFL standings at year end won't look like they do right now.

my bad on that one

What a dumbass.

A crazy gambler put $506,000 on the Browns to cover as 3.5 point underdogs last night at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City & lost.

Every thing you wrote up goes back to one man, Freddy! he is the head coach and all things fall in his lap!

Definitely. I mean he is 3 games into his coaching career but you think he could be more original than running streaks on 3rd and long :gaah:

For the most part I agree. However, if you rewatch 3rd down Baker has Landry open for a short slant and decides to throw to double covered TE in back of EZ.

No doubt this was not a good showing by Freddy, though.

The Browns have more issues than just Mayfield. He's looked good at times. And he's looked bad at times. I think the OL will be an issue all season long.

I don't think the preseason hype helped the team either. Their heads got bigger than a hot air balloon buying into the media hype. And it's gonna be a long season for any Browns fans that bought into the hype.

I said before the season started I'd consider it a successful one if they win more games than last year & beat those damn Steelers.

To hope for anything else is asking for too much.

Chubb getting most of his yards out of shotgun
Noticed that too....seemed to have no chance when Baker was under center.

Of course, also has no chance when he isn't even in the backfield like he was at the end.

All issues aside, win sunday they are in 1st place. Not gonna be easy, though, that's for sure.
