I don't see how those contract details don't make that signing an easy A.

Rams will be paying Austin and Woods $81M combined for 2 WR's that have never had 1000 yards seasons.

WOW! Indeed

Yeah Torry Smith 3 years 15m with Eagles --- Woods 5 year 39m. WTF

Both of these signings, the W brothers, are reactionary, fever-pitched moves that are more about spending money more than any substantial long-term benefits. SJ is spot on again and this Woods signing is useless as tits on a bull. You are right ALR. He is not worth the money they are going to pay him. Again, the better course of action is to work on A. Donald's extension and get way better in the draft and we let a way better FA go to the Niners. Kyle Juszczyk would be a great FA signing and he would really provide Gurley with relief. These signings have Demoff and Snead written all over them.

Retro

I agree with you.

However, as we all know, in order to get anyone to come play for a crappy teams, you have to overpay.

Only when you are winning ( ala, Pat's ) can you get guys to come play for you cheap because they want the chance at that ring.

So, the Rams options are to overpay to fill some holes, or sit and do nothing and wait for the draft and hope the strike gold.

At least Whitworth is still a top 5 LT, and his deal is basically one year if it doesn't work out.

Woods, we can only hope, has major improvement under McVay, as does Austin.

So is Robert Woods better than JuJu?

Id like that 6'2 guy at a cheaper price as well.

Yeah Torry Smith 3 years 15m with Eagles --- Woods 5 year 39m. WTF

2016 production:
20-267-3
or
51-613-1 and 3 years younger (and we share a birthday, lol)

Again, GTD cash means much more the total contract value.

Torrey Smith is hot garbage essentially a one trick pony as a straight line deep threat. Even in his one 1000 yard season for the Ravens, he caught 65 of 139 targets.

It would take $5M+ per to get Juszczyk and he's already agreed with the Niners.

Who was his QB in San Francisco? You'll see a different result with Wentz.

I'm with shopson, these contracts are front loaded so they will help transition Goff and implement McVay's system without breaking the bank.

We really need to consider that our draft capital was spent and we just don't have the options through the draft like in years past.

I like it, both player bridge the short term well while we figure out a long term and recover from acquiring our Franchise QB.

We really rolled the dice on Goff, but we are in the thick of it now so it's got to be about making that work first.

Yep, this was the knock on him coming out of SC.

Good to see the kid get to play just miles away from where he grew up. (Gardena is just a hop skip and a jump from Inglewood) Maybe that will motivate him to play well in front of his old school mates?

Combine 2013 Combine Stats:
  • 20 Yard Shuttle4.47 secs
  • 40 Yard Dash4.51 Secs
  • Bench Press14.0 reps
  • Broad Jump117.0 inches
  • Vertical Jump33.5 inches
  • 3 Cone Drill7.15 secs
Strengths
Productive potential number one receiver who can excel on any route on the tree due to good foot quickness and shifty hips. Runs solid comeback routes and uses sharp cuts on skinny posts to free himself. Possesses good vision and a strong burst with the ball in his hands. Flashes the ability to catch passes away from his frame with his hands. Can make catches in traffic and track passes over his shoulder. At times shows the strength and agility to spin out of tackle attempts in the secondary. Willing to go over the middle, take a hit and hang on. Has the speed to run past defenders, but also uses his long arms to create space from defenders downfield. Gives his quarterback a target when plays break down by going deep or coming across the field. Does his job as a downfield blocker on run plays, mixes it up with multiple targets if necessary.

Weaknesses
Lean upper and lower body builds, strength is an issue when trying to get off the jam, fight for 50-50 balls. Has more than his share of drops in some games, fails to squeeze the ball with his hands to secure it. Settles for body-catches over when high-pointing passes over defenders. Could step in as a kickoff or punt returner in a pinch due to his willingness to run through traffic, but lacks the elusiveness and pure speed most NFL teams covet. Had surgery on his right ankle during the 2012 offseason, did not participate in spring practice.
