just saw Glennon is expected to get 14.5M per

that is just ridiculous.

did teams not learn anything from the Osweiler debacle? you don't throw huge money at a QB that hasn't played very much.

with the Whitworth signing, maybe the Rams can nab a top 3 center in round 2 and dramatically improve the OL.

Sorry I think you can spend that money elsewhere and get a player in his actual prime or close to.

You are kidding yourself if you think this guy in his mid to late 30s can hold his own against younger and faster competition.

btw, signing Austin for 42M was ridiculous, but when you see Britt just get 32.5 from the Browns, well, at least Austin does more for his money.

Yeah he's 35 but he was the best tackle in the NFL last year. I think the contract is set up if you get two good years out of him you can probably release him the third year.

I saw a stat where he has given up 38 quarterback pressures the last two years combined. Robinson had 40 last year.

Sounds like Jake Long

he was the best LT left on the market.

and he was rated #2 LT just last year, and the Rams had to get Robinson moved.

I'm okay with it because they had to fix that OL and they weren't going to be able to do that through the draft without a 1st round pick.

now, they can focus on getting a C in the 2nd round.

Sounds like Jake Long

but Long had injury history before they even signed him, Whitworth doesn't

come on SJ, got to think semi-positive.

Semi positive?

Lessons should be learned when drafting and in free agency. Rule is... Don't go after vets after their prime and on their way to retirement.

How far has positivity gotten us Rams fans? And when does reality sink in for some of you?

Week 2? 4?

This FO can't figure out what their identity is. Running team? Young team that keeps building young talent? No

Freaks out and reaches on picks and FA? Yes

Experience work ethic and discipline will hopefully rub off on the rest of the line. They must dig in and give young Goff the time to make plays.

Looks like ex-Redskins are headed to the 49ers to reunite with Shanahan. Garcon is headed to the Niners and rumors abound indicating Cousins wants out of Washington to go to the Niners as well.

The Woods signing I don't like.

I like Woods, but he, like Austin, is not worth that contract.

I hope he comes out and proves me wrong, and maybe with McVays offense, he will.

But for now, all I can say is WOW

Rams will be paying Austin and Woods $81M combined for 2 WR's that have never had 1000 yards seasons.

WOW! Indeed

Both of these signings, the W brothers, are reactionary, fever-pitched moves that are more about spending money more than any substantial long-term benefits. SJ is spot on again and this Woods signing is useless as tits on a bull. You are right ALR. He is not worth the money they are going to pay him. Again, the better course of action is to work on A. Donald's extension and get way better in the draft and we let a way better FA go to the Niners. Kyle Juszczyk would be a great FA signing and he would really provide Gurley with relief. These signings have Demoff and Snead written all over them.

There's only $15M guaranteed. That's pretty cheap for a #2 WR.

OT Andrew Whitworth, Rams

Grade: B+

The Rams have spent years attempting to develop their left tackle of the future without any success. Now they have their best left tackle since Hall of Famer Orlando Pace left. Whitworth isn't quite a Hall of Famer, but he has been one of the five best left tackles in football for several years now while protecting Andy Dalton's blind side in Cincinnati. He hasn't slipped much, if at all; Stats LLC suggests Whitworth didn't allow a single sack during the 2016 season.

The 35-year-old obviously isn't going to be Los Angeles' left tackle for the long haul, which raises questions as to why a rebuilding team would hand Whitworth a three-year, $36 million deal. There are two clear arguments for the deal. One is that the Rams are really only committed to Whitworth for one year; they guaranteed the three-time Pro Bowler $12.5 million in 2017 with just $2.5 million due in guarantees the following year. That's paying Whitworth less than the franchise tag would have cost this season.

Jared Goff. Goff was a mess in the pocket as a rookie but also was beset by pass pressure; he faced the league's third-highest blitz rate (34.3 percent) and its second-highest pressure rate (35.6 percent) while taking sacks an unreal 11.2 percent of the time. No quarterback was going to look remotely competent under that level of pressure, let alone somebody as inexperienced as Goff. Whitworth should take over for the massively frustrating Greg Robinson and lock down one side of the line for the time being.
