Just heard a report on ESPN that a source in the Redskins FO is stating that they are seriously considering letting both Rak and Riley test the FA waters. Apparently both of their demands are excessive (didn't quantify what excessive means). It also means that the Skins don't think RAK is worth a Franchise Tag. I sure would like to know what they are asking for.

Rak must want 10 mil a season which is outrageous for him. Riley will come crawling back on his knees after the market will offer him not nearly enough of what he thinks he is worth.

Both of them must be asking for a really pretty penny......

Best case both find they are not getting what they want and both come back to DC......

the silver linging in this...if you want to call it that........This shows that Snyder has truely stepped back and is letting the football people (allen) handle things....We all know...the old days...we would have given both what they wanted especially Rak as he is considered the best FA OLB on the market......this to me says...........We now have HOPE that the Danny has learned, and we have a chance!!!!

Screw it, let em walk. They are easily replaceable. And even if they arent, we will simply go after the next guy. How dare they ask for contracts any where in the range of what the last few guys at their position got.

He is definitely not worth 10+ million a year with guranteed money and signing bonuses

Watch Rak go to the Raiders. Don't they have 60 million in cap room.

My concern is over Rak. He may very well end up at a NFCE team. I realize he isn't in the elite category, but he is very good and we don't have a replacement either on the team or in FA that is anywhere near comparable. Someone will pay RAK.

Riley, not as concerned about. He just isn't thought that highly of in those evaluations I've seen. He's worth more to us than anyone else. I agree that he will most likely be back once he realizes what his market value is.

If he had played for another team, half the fans saying screw it let him walk would be clamoring for us to sign him. And reality is, if he averages $10 million a year on a five year deal, he might get $10 million guaranteed, another $6 in performance and incentives which would make up $16 million of the total $50 million on the deal. The other 24 gets spread over five years something like 2, 4, 4, 7 and 7 with the last two years being built in rework or void years.

Bottom line, he is worth more than what Kruger got last year and I think thats what he expects.

To me, he's worth that kind of deal as you have laid out, especially with the performance bonuses as a significant portion of it. Hopefully this is just a position ploy by the franchise to see if they can get these guys to bend a bit.

lol! Rak's agent must be asking for 12 a year. There's no way we'd be that cheap and not pay our face 9-10 mil a season. Sorry Shark, I'm with you on Orakpo but not Riley receiving a big pay day.

Orakpo deserves 9-10 a season, you can't be ELITE with one other above average player on D.
All the other top notch OLBs have help at multiple positions.

I agree with all if this. Pay him what Kruger got, and then a little extra. Get some DL to help them out.

I say give Rak a deal like Krugers with a little bump via incentives, Give Riley a deal comparable to Ellerbe's on paper. It doesnt have to grade out at $7 million per year unless he makes incentives. Both sides are happy, and we can stopp bullshitting and concentrate on filling actual holes instead of making new ones.

I'd give RAK the Kruger deal with some juice.

There is no way I'd give Riley the deal Ellerbe got because neither deserve it.
