As most everybody that visits this board they know by now....I absolutely loved the Pete Carroll hire as the new HC.

And he is starting to put together his coaching staff. DC Patrick Graham was in the running for the Jags HC job until Liam Coen got it. Carroll must have reached out to him because Graham is returning as the Raiders DC.

Carroll is also bringing back Rob Leonard as the DL coach and brinhing in a guy from his Seattle days in John Glenn to coach the LB's.

Expecting Miami Dolphins QB coach Darrell Bevell to come in as the new OC. And if so, I expect a lot of running the ball since we do not have a clear answer at QB right now. And running the ball was a key component to Seattle's offense when Bevell was the OC there.

Regardless who is the new OC we have to improve the OL. Regressed after a good 2023 season.

This year's draft has some serious O-lineman. The Raids should pick-up a few good ones to go along with the good ones they already have.

We will also have 93 mill in cap space.

99.6 mill if and when we released Minshew.

I expect Pete Carroll to be active in FA negotiations and him recruiting FA's to the Raiders....Carroll has a good reputation around the League with players.

As far as defensive players I woudn't mind Bobby Wagner if Robert Spillane leaves because he gets a huge raise. Loved Spillane's 2 seasons here but he may get more on the FA market than with us, especially if Carroll wants to bring in some bargain FA's he is used to at that their advanced age. Like Wagner.

Most likely a 1 year deal since he doesn't have a lot left....but on a cheap deal I wouldn't mind it. I love Spillane but he may be commanding more than we can afford to pay him. We have close to 100 mill (assuming we released Minshew to save almost 7 mill) but we have needs on the OL, a #1 RB and #1 receiver. Plus, tweak the defense.....but we also have a draft to fill needs so we will see.

He seems to have reinvented himself as a run game guru and I would like us to run the ball more....

Kelly isn't a great HC but he is a pretty good OC.

Sort of like Mike Martz and Dick Vermeil. Or Spagnuolo as a DC and NOT a HC.

Vermeil was a pretty good HC IMO, made it to 2 SB's and won 1....but you nailed the other 2.

Well, I was referring to the fact that Vermeil left too early and Martz took over as the HC after Vermeil retired. Vermeil was the DEF HC. Martz was the OC. Martz was a way better OC than HC. He was a horrible drafting dude and he sucked as a HC. That was the comparison I was making to Kelly.
