If you are too young to understand why the man was important to the world, read up.

Well posted Lee.

Mandela lived to a ripe old age and saw the fall of apartheid in South Africa during his lifetime. Though he is almost universally celebrated and respected now, it's not so long ago that the ANC, the organization he led for years, was deemed a terrorist organization by the US and its allies. He came a long way from prison to the presidency, and he will endure as a symbol for those seeking freedom and justice for centuries to come.

Funny how a change in power turns a villian into a hero. South Africa was a bastion of anti communism in the next area, Africa, where our enemies hoped to make inroads which beniftted the U.S. in its fight with the Soviets for world supremecy.
