Hollywood legend Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife, 64-year-old former classical pianist Betsy Arakawa, were found dead Wednesday afternoon at home in New Mexico, along with their dog, authorities said.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office provided no cause of death but said there was no indication of foul play. "This is an active and ongoing investigation," a spokesperson said in an email to Newsweek.

One of the last of the true giants. Jeez, did he ever make a lousy movie? Bonnie and Clyde, The French Connection, The Conversation, Mississippi Burning, Unforgiven, Hoosiers, The Chamber. Damned impressive resume.

even i forgot Crimson Tide and his hilarious uncredited cameo in Young Frankenstein

Hackman, dead at age 95, I can understand. But his wife dead at age 64, AND the family dog, all at the same time? And police think no foul play is involved? Yeah, okay. I guess I no longer understand the term 'foul play'. These people and their dog didn't just coincidentally all die at the same time, of natural causes. At least two of the three died of 'unnatural' causes.

Carbon monoxide poisoning comes immediately to mind. I hope it wasn't something more sinister than that. That is tragic enough.

Could be something like carbon monoxide poisoning.

Yep. You posted it before I could edit my post. Not exactly something you want to hope for, but it might be the best possible outcome.
Yea, my thinking is if they don't see any evidence right off the start to suggest any type of foul play then either it was an excellent hitman job or something that rarely happens like some sort of gas leak or carbon monoxide. Then again, with a high profile person like Hackman, if they do think there is any foul play the smart move may be to dismiss it to the press to keep a close vest type of investigation and to keep any leaks to a minimal.

Why would someone send a hitman after a 95 year old man in poor health?

RIP Gene, one of the greats.

Besides everything that has already been posted, I loved his campy Lex Luthor.

Absolutely no idea as Hackman was one of the better Hollywood peeps. But you know, there are some fucked off people in the world so anything is possible.
