To keep the tribute thread going, he released so much good shit from 2002-now, seems to have kind of gone under the radar, at least from what I've seen.

People keep mentioning how ugly he was. What that really means is that he must have had true talent to survives in such an image based business.

Honestly, I'm really more of a jazz and prog guy, but he did have a couple or so songs I really dug.

To me Tom Petty was the apex of several American music genre's. You can hear strains of Dylan, Hank Williams, and Elvis in his work.
