I'm curious who the dream QB is which means they have ideas of trying to move up in the draft.
3-4 under Hurtt was an effin disaster… What made me so frustrated was his refusal to accept it wasn’t working and making some adjustments … I’m hoping we just go back to the 4-3 and on occasion use the 3-4 in obvious passing downs… 3-4 can be effective having 8 in coverage at times …Oh yeah, not only new HC but new OC and DC be interesting to see if they go back to the 4-3 or find someone who KNOWS how to run a 3-4. New QB in this situation are nearly SOP.
Ravens run a 3-4 I believe and it's pretty effective for them and it's in use by some other good defenses. Either scheme can work with the right DC and players. I just want the defense to get much better which ever scheme they use.3-4 under Hurtt was an effin disaster… What made me so frustrated was his refusal to accept it wasn’t working and making some adjustments … I’m hoping we just go back to the 4-3 and on occasion use the 3-4 in obvious passing downs… 3-4 can be effective having 8 in coverage at times …

SB is 2/11. If we are waiting on Ben Johnson and/or Macdonald, them making the SB doesn't leave much room for interviews and hiring before the 2/16 salary trigger on Geno Smith. Could add another layer to both of those decisions.
Yeah, I would suspect JS has a fairly firm intent in place with Geno, but I would also expect it's at least a conversation with whoever the coach will be. Maybe even during the interviews. And I agree -- don't think he's getting cut. They can interview both of them next week.
I would be shocked if JS hasn't already decided what they are going to do with Geno. I would also be shocked if they cut him.

The FO wants their dream QB as it was put so possibly the new HC might be all in on a rookie.I'm sure he would want to discuss the future of the team and the QB position with any prospective coach. But I also doubt that any coach would want to come in and say "Get rid of the experienced and competent vet. I want to go all in on an unproven rookie"

If the FO is set on moving up and selecting a QB Geno will be an after thought. If they draft a QB who's a small project and needs to learn than yes Geno stays. They may take a shot at a rookie QB. But that doesn't really preclude keeping Geno, especially since they need to decide by 2/15
Do you feel the choice of HC will effect if the Seahawks take a QB round one? I would imagine a defensive minded HC like say Macdonald would push hard for a defensive player being picked round one (yes JS is in charge, but working with the HC and filling his wants/needs is important). Kafka is the only offensive minded candidate to get a second interview, although I think Johnson will get a second interview and maybe more interviews will be added. If the FO is set on moving up and selecting a QB Geno will be an after thought. At some point, sure. But cutting him before 2/15 creates a ton of risk. Also puts them in a bad negotiating position. If the FO is set on moving up and selecting a QB Geno will be an after thought. If they draft a QB who's a small project and needs to learn than yes Geno stays.

It's often easy to support risky decisions when you know you don't have to be accountable for the outcome. At some point, sure. But cutting him before 2/15 creates a ton of risk. Also puts them in a bad negotiating position.

It’s always been hard to predict what the Seahawks will do because they always went with their board which often was different then those you see prior to the draft.I don't think that JS will reach for a QB so I could see waiting until later in the draft to take someone.
For sure. If they have someone like Nix or Penix or McCarthy as a round 1 talent, they could take them. I doubt they would make the move up the draft though. It’s always been hard to predict what the Seahawks will do because they always went with their board which often was different then those you see prior to the draft.

I don't see them moving up into the top 5 to get a QB but I wouldn't be surprised to see them move up to 10-15 to get their guy...For sure. If they have someone like Nix or Penix or McCarthy as a round 1 talent, they could take them. I doubt they would make the move up the draft though.
