Not for a winning season. Just another year of development (for the team ,not at the QB position). Maybe next season for a franchise QB.

A winning season was never in the cards for us anyways. We'll suck this year so might as well die with your boots on......either Kaepernick or Gabbert staring will lead us only looking towards the backup for something.....anything.

I would like to see Driskel on the roster as a backup. I don't know that I want to see him thrown in the fire right away. I guess if the coaching staff really thinks he is ready. But I normally like seeing rookies sit a year, maybe play in spots if there is a blowout.

I wouldn't mind seeing him go through some growing pains. He's got some advantages with a better O-line and a back in Hyde who -barring injury- can become one of the better ones in the NFL.

Just watched game. Driskel was the best QB out there. Made some nice throws. Decisive and accurate. Gabbert was ok. Kaepernick didn't look.good at all. Forced balls into tight coverage. Could have been picked off twice

The receivers didn't exactly help out Driskel, which given the talent on the roster it's not surprising, but the QB did his part. He's shown some improvement to where I'd like to see him start the final pre-season game with some starters. He's an incredibly long shot to succeed in the NFL, so there isn't much to lose.

It might be risky to project him to the PS.....personally I'd like to see him make the 53.

I didn't see Driskel play. But I've heard multiple people say that he looked good.

Put Driskel in. Take Kaepernick out. That's the most sensible answer and it probably won't happen. What's more likely to happen is Driskel goes to the practice squad and then gets picked up by another team. Our front office is more incompetent than Kaepernick.

I hope they keep Driskel on the roster. He has looked good enough to keep him on the roster.

I think Gabbert earned it. He is the best of the group right now. Ponder looked good for part of a game but looked crappy last week. Driskel looks like he is getting better but probably not ready yet. I have to give Gabbert some credit. He has done everything you could ask in terms of preparation and work from the offseason till today. He seems to have done his best to get to the number despite his lack of skill

i dont think he really earned because there was no comp. kap missed 2 games and was hurt and then he does this stupid crap, ponder just got here and driskel is a rookie. it is what it is. lets just hope for the best. Lets go 49ers

I would say he earned it because he beat out the competition that was there and healthy. Hope he can improve as time goes on and just be Alex Smith like. I would be surprised to see Driskel this season unless Gabbert just starts playing horribly or gets injured.

Well guy it ends tonight and Kaps career might end tonight with the 49ers. If he has an amazing game maybe he wins the starting spot but if he looks bad to avg he might be gone after tonight. It should be very interesting.

Wow great drive by Kap and the offense. They started inside their 20 and Kap and Offense drove down the field for the best 1st drive of the preseason. Also included in that drive was 15 yard penalty by the offense and a drop pass by Miller and a Great catch by Anderson. Also Kerley looked really good in the slot. Might be the type of a WR we need. Statement drive by Kap. Offense looks better under him. System fits him.

Its only 1 drive but it was one hell of a drive. If he has another drive like that it will be tough not to name him the starter. In the End I still think Gabbert wins it because well non football stuff that Kap is doing is not helping his case.

2nd Kap Drive: Started with a 10 yard holding penalty. Got it to 3rd and 8 but bad throw on 3rd down. Had the guy for a 1st but threw it some what in the ground in from of the WR. Had blind side pressure coming.

Overall not a great drive by the offense due to the 10 yard holding penalty.

3rd drive by Kap: Another impressive drive. Ending the Half with a FG. Made 1 bad throw but overall ran the offense nicely. Another score. Ended up scoring on 2 of 3 drives. Very Impressive game by Kap.

Kelly has a very interesting decision to make. Kap looks like the better QB but does he play it safe and name Gabbert the starter. Kap did almost throw an Int but overall looked good running and passing the ball.

Jeff Driskel is doing his best to play himself onto the practice squad.

He was playing the 2nd string players but he was also with the 2nd string players. U guys must really be haters damn. The guy played better then any QB we had this preseason and u cant even give some credit. LOL Just sad guys. Give credit where credit is due. He looked good overall. Yes he almost had an Int but didnt. He is 100% the better QB but the problem is the non football stuff.

Kap looked good at times last night and had some bad throws. But it was against backups and he had mostly a clean pocket all day. Not going to get that during the season.
