Cons
Yoshi is going to be destroyed by any DE with any type of speed at all
LBs were weak, yes daivd had a lot of tackles, but first contact was when the ball carrier was 3 yards down field
dline didnt get good push consistantly ( i will say it was a very basic D game called)
paul has fumbles

pros
holy shit martinez is fast
burkhead is going to really make teams match up to him because he can do a lot
helu looked ok
martinez threw a lot better then i thought he would

over all, it didnt seem like we had 500 yards
our D gave up way too many rushing yards
i agree with whoever said kinnie will be the go to WR, i dont think its paul
Rodriguez the true freshman G played well when he got in there, he got a good first punch on DL when playing
I think our LBs are a big liability, but they will learn on the go pretty darn quickly

the one hit crick put on the other qb was DAMN

Agreed. Green has problems with touch. But that bomb to Paul was not bad... I think the way the offense is headed, T-Magic is it.

He could command so much respect for the run that teams are putting 8 and 9 in the box, thus opening up the pass. He showed a little of his passing skills, which can only improve with time. No doubt he has the physical tools to be an elite QB, it's up to Wats and him to hone them.

Maybe Green should be the starter, but for now it is justifiably Martinez's spot to lose. My only reservation is that I can't ever remember a time when a team won a National Championship with a Rs Freshmen... There's a first time for everything, and 3 is a magic number..

On the Nebraska Football Show, Bo was generally happy with the first quarter although there were things that can be fixed.
2nd quarter..soft and sloppy
3rd quarter..Offense ok, things that can be fixed. Defense soft and sloppy.
4th quarter..same

Special Teams Play...."Average"

Taylor Martinez was obviously a very pleasant surprise........but I have to be honest, even after going back and watching the game again, I am seriously very impressed with the decision making of Cody Green.

I feel like hands down he is the best passing QB we have on the team, and it is quite apparent that he worked his ass off in the off-season because his throwing motion is better, he sets his feet better, he goes through his progressions better.....he's just grown up.

The craziest part about this QB situation is that both guys are young. I mean realistically I see a possible 2-QB situation throughout this season.......but what does that mean for next season......or the season after? Both guys would still be here.....

As far as National Champions with freshman; Redshirt Freshman Bernie Kosar did it against Nebraska in 1983 with Miami. True Freshman Jamelle Holieway did for OU in 1986.

I'm sorry but I am NOT impressed with Cody Green. He Stares down receivers like I Stare down People wearing Lonhorn hats at Russ's. Martinez goes through his progressions, and actually has a legit pump fake, as opposed to that ridiculous, slow vomitting motion Lee calls a pump fake... Wats knows what he's doing.
