Except he didn’t flee for an appropriate reason. Nobody in South America is being persecuted. They are fleeing violence and economic conditions, neither of which are legal asylum claims.

He was turned away because he didn’t have a legitimate claim. So, he was determined to put his families lives at risk in order to break our laws?

Actually, I posted a link that proves his policies have simply not made it better. The number of illegals that have died are the same under Trump as Obama with many more coming here under Trump. Here is an idea...it is dangerous to make the trek...stay home because you don’t have a valid asylum claim.

We been over this before. 20 years ago I didnt care if someone was here undocumented or not. After listening to people rant about it the past three ear I really dont care because at the end of the day, the people ranting about it are not going to make things any better for me even if they do get rid of these people. Because most of the people ranting about these people now, are the same ones who think real equality means lowering their standard of living rather than making America fair for everyone.

SO let em in and they wont have to take the dangerous route.

Actually, immigration is probably the main area I disagree with his policies. If for no other reason that economic, we need immigrants coming into this country and I think we should be implementing policy that expedites those immigrants that will contribute positively. Now, before you think this is code for lets let all the whites in and repel those of color, that has nothing to do with it. I will gladly welcome any from south of the border, or any other area, that contribute. But to keep our economy chugging, we need laborers, truck drivers, farm hands, restaurant workers, etc to keep up with demand. And there is a real serious shortage of these workers. So serious, that it has the potential to stall our economy. And yes, immigrants usually fill these roles when they first enter the country. And for the ones truly interested in a better life, this is the first step toward building a future.

However, this does not mean we open the flood gates and let all in. Just as not enough, too many can also have a serious adverse affect. Just look at California. But any President's first priority is the safety and welfare of those who elected him, the citizens of this country. Which is how it should be.

And yes, Trump is playing to his base. Just as the Democrats are. The vast majority of these illegals are not seeking asylum, but opportunity. But the Dems found this "loop hole" under the guise of asylum to pound Trump. But its just not true.

Both parties need to come together and find a middle ground solution and stop this gamesmanship. But that ain't gonna happen with the next election on the horizon.

Well...look at homelessness in California if you think immigration is so great. Americans are on the street.

Truck drivers are not typically taken by immigrants. It is a good job. Restaurant workers should be youth.

Why are they trash? I am a pilot and am part of a union. Another company, without a union, during the oil downturn laid off their highest paid, senior pilots, who also have the most qualification because they refused to be abused. That company rehired them at first year salaries. That is complete bullshit. So a union can protect employers from that kind of abuse.

Is it right that six people in a company take four million in bonuses one week before declaring bankruptcy, while in negotiation with a highly skilled, high risk job, with a shortage of qualified applicants during a negotiating period? Oh, that company is public ally traded and not privately owned...oops, it was.

Now thats funny. Im selfish because I have said simply let them in. Get rid of the reason for them to take the dangerous trek. Them being here has caused me no harm in 50 years. With or without them, America is no more or less safe for ME and mine. As far as making America stronger... in what way do you think they make America weaker??

Not sure youve ever been part of a union but I was for 35 years. Without them I would have been at the mercy of a huge company with greedy CEO’s and other top officials sucking every drop of blood out of the employees.

Having said that I know that unions are as corrupt as the party that they serve.. the democrats... but unions helped build this country and kept many people working. All good. They’re a dying breed anyway.

Americans will always be on the street (as is true elsewhere in the world). Unfortunately most of those that live on the streets permanently have other issues than finding work. But where i live, immigrants absolutely are truck drivers. And waitresses. Many are youth.

I am against world wide socialist govt . Now do because Americans hurt other Americans that some makes it ok for illegals to do it ? Every country in the world has borders and laws to come and go into their respective countries yet somehow we are the devil for wanting ours respected too ?
