I don’t think the actual roster has been announced yet. I think what tz posted was his expectation.

This team was definitely built differently than a normal contender. If they win a title, I'm willing to reconsider what needs to be done to build a championship team.
This team is pure specialization. With the exception of Longo, Posey and Craw (and maybe Webb), every single player on the roster is a specialist.

Very difficult approach in the business world. Usually called best of breed. Very hard to maintain a working integration. Too many self interests to deal with.
But in this case .... it's almost magical. The team really seems to get along well together .... no giant personalities to deal with ... that I can see.
A remarkable job by FZ and Kap

I would normally say that you can’t go with this level of specialization, but they won 107! That can’t be a fluke.

I don’t get it. I don’t understand it.

But it seems to work.

No Cueto
Both Duggar AND Slater (redundant?)
Both Duggar AND Dickerson

No other real surprises.

Hmmm only 12 pitchers....I trust them
More pinch hitting opportunities among the players.

With the 3-batter rule, you need more flexibility in hitting than pitching.

Besides, what pitcher was left off that had to be there?

Slater is not redundant with Duggar, righty lefty and lots of lefty pitchers on the Dogs. Also can never have too much defense and speed.

As a Giant fan this has been one of the entertaining and rewarding seasons that I can remember. Like you said . 107 games us not a fluke!!!!!

In reality I will be saddened if they can't go all the way to the WS but I can't be disappointed in what they have accomplished. I never expected anything like this ...

But .... and there will always be buts ....

If they get eliminated early there will be many critics proclaiming that .... see .. it was all a fluke ... when it came down to it they couldn't produce ... I just knew it! They will overlook the magnitude of what this years team has accomplished ...you don't win 107 games because you are lucky .... but you can lose any individual series because you were unlucky!

Yeah and in a 5 game series, hopefully that many pitchers won’t be needed.
If they can get 5/6 from Webb/Gas and 3/4 from Disco/Wood, that means they really only have to account for approx 23 innings from the bully. That’s approx 3 innings from each.

Pretty much folliw the MSG pitching profile. Try and get through the lineup twice with as little damage as possible then turn it over to the pen.
The only difference may be .... how far do you let the 'leading pitcher' go if he looks shakey early on?

I just don't know. Tough call. You want the SP to try and find their command ... but you don't want the game to slip away from you as you try that approach.
I saw Garret Cole give up a 2 run homer in the 1st and then another homer in the 3rd. He was pulled there. It was a WC game ... but he also looked shakey ...
Just don't have many chances to correct things in the playoffs.

I thought Cueto would be good in the Petit role but I agree with you the extra batter is more useful
