After the 1st contract...where else can the player make comparable money playing football? Rhetorical question...we know there are no other leagues.

But, if I were an owner, I wouldn't concede that to mandate something that I currently CAN use, but I don't. Holdouts are often high profile situations, but for a league with 1696 players under NFL contracts, the number of holdouts is relatively low yr to yr...I would concede it for 18 regular season games though.

Okay...that's true if he's a FA...remember we're talking about star players mostly. OAK traded Mack b/c they didn't think they could sign him. The only team that has been willing to trade top level players as a normal part of doing biz has been NE.

But with all the Tags...just clearing the rookie contract can tack up to 7 yrs for a 1st rd pick.

Yeah, I wouldn't be angling for more control in the CBA to keep that handful of players from holding out...they have plenty of control...use what you have already.
