Alright, but still even if their is pressure coming down on GMs, what stops them from just signing these guys anyway? Jeff, Id to keep fighting in and take the dangers out but I just dont see it being possible.

How about if you have more fighting majors than points you're done?

I bet if there was a fighting competition at All Star weekend that everyone would finally watch the All Star weekend.

Seriously, though, I'm on board with getting it out of the game. So is eloco, if I remember correctly. But I can't speak for eloco, because he has a higher degree than me...

I think that eloco and maybe even ritari were somewhat against fighting as well. It seems to be a Caps, Pens thing.

Yeah, I think I've been as outspoken against fighting as anyone. I'm not just a client, I'm also the President! Wait, maybe that's my hair club...

It seems to be a Caps, Pens thing.

Maybe we need a song for our cause. Click play below and then sing along each of your parts...

Eloco: There comes a time when the refs will make a call
Ritari/Darkstone: And no man… will fight…after its done
Dare: There are people fighting
Evolver: Oh and its time to lend a hand… to hockey
CapsRevenge: The Canadian gift to all

46: We can’t go on… pretending day by day
Element: That Bettmann, or Shanny will soon make a change
Pix: We are all a part of the hockey family
Dacks: And great hits, moves, and saves are all we need

CHORUS - ALL
We cheers the Pens, we are the Caps’ fans
We are the ones who cheer the biggest stars
So lets stop fighting
There's a choice we're making
It’s keeping those gloves on
Its true we'll make a better day
Just stop fighting

Loki: Well…Send them your checks, and your nasty dirty stares
Thedddd/Loki: And their heads will stay concussion free
Emu: Boudreau has shown us, you can always say fuck off
Apache: Or Burrows, at worst… you bite a hand

CHORUS – ALL

ElYeah: When you’re just knocked out… there seems no hope at all
SFNL: But if you just believe, Shanny will make the call
Pix: Oh oh oh… we must realize that a change can only come
Dstone/46/Pix: When rivals… stand together as one

CHORUS – ALL - REPEAT

Fighting was an integral part of the development of the game of hockey, in how the rules are structured and how the referees call the game. It developed that way when the sport and first professional leagues were created. Taking fighting out of hockey would fundementally change the game.

Olympics are not comparable, they have all star teams. And no college hockey is not nearly as fun to watch but if you want to argue that is because of a diluted talent pool and not fighting, I'd listen.

Another way to limit enforcers is to shrink roster size and/or the number of contracts that teams can have. With a shorter roseter, it is much more costly to waste a spot on a guy who gets no ice time and can't contribute anything but fighting to the team.

Im against it because there isn't a realistic way that the nhl will actually implement to get the enforcers, goons and staged fights out of the game. won't happen. No fighting >> all that BS. In a perfect world, I would like a fight to happen less than 100 times a year and only happen as a rarity, but alas we don't live in a perfect world

Look guys, I'm perfectly fine with an occasional fight that occurs for a reason, but there's no real way to get rid of these staged fights. It's not a judgement call situation. Sure, there are certain moments that it's more obvious, but there's no working way to do this.

I think fighting should be allowed as long as nobody gets hurt. :D

There's a simple 17-step process...

(1) Each year all NHL players are given surveys and vote on every player as to whether they are a "goon" or not. If 25% of players or more identify you as a goon, you are banned from fighting for that year and any fights by that player will involve a very long suspension. All new players are not allowed to fight until the year ends and all players can be surveyed. One player rep. will be chosen at random to tabulate the results before the season starts.

(2) After each penalty, the referees confer to decide whether the hit was dirty or clean. If they deem it dirty, the lights in the arena go red and the players are given a 30-second period to decide whether to drop the gloves or not. This shall be deemed the "red zone." If they do not fight while the lights are red, they are not allowed to fight again until another "red zone" happens. All fights during regular lit times are subject to lengthy suspensions.

(3) Players seeking to start a fight to motivate their team can do so if their NHL punch cards are full. Each team is issued a card at the start of the year and each game played gets a punch of their card from the referee (who will all now being equipped with holsters and single-hole punches). When the card is full, the team may redeem it at any time for one suspension-free/"red zone"-free fight. A card requires a team to play 18 games to be full. No purchase necessary, maximum number of redemptions per game is 2, some restrictions may apply.

Alright, we're through the first 3, I'll explain the other 14 soon. You'll see it's very simple, almost as easy to understand as the goalie interference/coincidental contact rule.
