I'd like to see how Hart would hold up in a shoot out......

Just didn't want to see him in a shoot out vs the Pens.

:suds:
Malkin was out so he probably would have faced Crosby, Guentzel, and maybe Kessel(slow) or Cullen or Blueger

Wouldn't he have lost his timeout losing the challenge?
He didn't lose a challenge.
Actually he won the challenge in the end.
1. Goal disallowed due to goalie interference.
2. Flyers challenged and won the goal was allowed.
3. Penguins challenged the play was offside and won that challenge.

So in reality both coaches won their challenges on the same play.

Back to the original topic earlier posted.

As for the timeout I don't understand the logic of why that was an issue in OT? The Penguins were controlling the play in OT, there wasn't a stoppage but the Flyers broke out and scored with only a few seconds left.

Snapshots: Three Stars, Malkin, Sandin

Malkin is week to week.

Anyway on to the important part of the article:

  • The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without one of their top players after Evgeni Malkinwas listed as “week-to-week” last night by head coach Mike Sullivan. Somewhat quietly, Malkin is having another outstanding season with 71 points through his first 66 games and is a huge part of the Pittsburgh attack. The team will have to rely on their other superstars for the time being and hope the big Russian center can get healthy in time for the playoffs.

:pound: Not sure who that reporter was watching?

I wanted a TO during regulation, late in the 3rd...not recalling if they took one
In regulation yes that would have made sense but in OT (what I was referring to) that would not have stopped the goal. Since the action was continuous.

Simon is really clicking with Bjugstad. That's great, because it means he can play on a line outside of the top 6 without looking bad, and it gives the team the option to run McCann with Crosby.

I'd really like to see Simon-Bjugstad-Rust as a third line at some point.

Schultz hits Murray in the face with his stick while the shot comes in for the Canes' first goal, and then Guentzel equalizes immediately at the other end while Mrazek was screened by two of his own players, so the defenses for those thirty seconds didn't just not help out their goalies, they actively made their jobs harder.

It's so nice to have Letang back in the lineup. Adds such a dynamic element to the blue line that was sorely missing with Trotman in there.
