I was behind him, and he ducked under the screen to find the puck just before it was shot. Someone was out of position defensively to leave both the shooter wide open and the screen. And the shot was perfect besides.

That was a fun game to be at. I bought a hot dog with the works called a Dahntahn Dog, and Ginny at the concession stand gave me a hard time about my terrible effort at a Pittsburgh accent to order it. I can't and never have been able to do a Pittsburgh accent. But the hot dog would have made Phil Kessel proud, covered in shredded barbecue pork and smoked onions and pickled jalapenos.

I got back just in time to see my boy Phil score the equalizer. At the end of the game, when he went off the ice with the empty net after just missing on his 200-foot attempt at it, the crowd started chanting "We want Phil," which was pretty great. Earlier in the game, I had texted my girlfriend professing my love for The Phil, much to her alarm, but clearly I was not alone.

I think Olli Maatta is underappreciated in Pittsburgh because it's hard to see what he does on TV, but he was very good last night. Did a lot of little things off the puck to help Murray out. He was almost always exactly where he needed to be.
