As I am going to be an active follower and fan of the NHL this upcoming season I am looking for a team to follow. Also, I am going to purchase NHL '12 and play every single game of the season in a quest to win the Stanley Cup. As I haven't been much of a follower of hockey in the past just because I get focused on NFL and NBA I am trying to find a hockey team that I can become a fan of. Way back when I played NHL ESPN 2k5 I was the Edmonton Oilers, so im trying to pick between the Oilers, Penguins (as I am a Pirates fan, so mine as well stick within the city of Pitt) Buffalo and the Avalanche. I remember rooting for the Avs back in the late 90s. But that was probably because they were good. lol.

If you live in Oregon the two closest NHL teams to you are Vancouver & San Jose. So if you want to go somewhat local picking from those two would make a lot of sense. As an added bonuse their are plenty of Canucks & Sharks fans on this board. They can help you get up to speed on the team you choose quickly.

Doesn't seem to be many Nashville fans on here. The Preds could be a good choice, just concerned with all these warm climate teams talking about moves if Nashvilles future is safe. Relocation is the reason I have Phoenix out of the question, otherwise Coyotes would be a viable option.
