LOL. I'm sorry, but I'll have to tell the redditors that a 91career passer rating during this era of football gives me a lot pause. Plus, he did have Megatron. Stafford is going to make the HOF. I'm just not sure he is truly elite.

Stafford shouldn't make the Hall now, but he has some more winning seasons he has a better chance. He is not elite either, he is elite in the 4th quarter but otherwise a good qb. He is top 10, not top 5 qb.

McVay could in theory coach for 2 or more decades. I wouldn't totally rule that out with the Rams legacy.

Or he could retire next month. Rams could be anything next year

I like the original NFL teams, with all that's happened to them. The teams I watched in black and white in the 50s. When what we now call a blitz was called a red dog. Before there were pastel uniforms, and when halftime was marching bands, and the damn TV networks didn't try to hide the cheerleaders. When being a fan meant knowing what Y.A. stood for in Y.A. Tittle. When most of the game was 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

I believe wholeheartedly that the Browns are one of the most storied franchises, but maybe their storied-ness holds no weight with today's generation. I don't yet know why the Browns are out of the running for Watson, but being storied apparently was not enough for Watson.

As far as I can remember, the Packers and Steelers have been tied the whole way in our poll. There appears to be a very strong agreement that those two are the most storied teams.

So here is a story....

The 1945 - 9-1 Rams won their first championship against 8-2 - Washington by a score of 15-14.

At that time the goal posts were at the goal line and not the end zone. Washington was at the 5 yard line when QB Sammy Baugh attempted a forward pass that hit the goal post and fell behind the goal line resulting in a Safety and 2 points for the Rams!

Well if you thought that 2 point margin was the difference to crown the champs in a one point game, then think again.

There was also an extra point after the Bob Waterfield TD where the Rams extra point was partially blocked, and actually teetered on the crossbar!

Imagine that!

It teetered on the crossbar, and then dropped over to give the Rams a 2 point lead at the time, and eventually give the Rams the win by a single point!

Now that is a story of a Storied Franchise!
