They should just cancel the Olympics

I can’t understand why Javale McGee was ever on the list?

I am a big advocate of putting role players on the team, but they have to be good role players.

Javale a bad fit for international ball.

Well at least McGee is an actual center, which Team USA didn't have besides Bam. But both those selections, McGee and Johnson are just odd as hell. Look at all the talent out there. There's no way everyone is saying no. The way Pop has put this entire roster together is just head scratching. Talented players passed over, odd line up fits and roster construction, etc.

McGee is proof that the NBA needs to narrow the lane and go to rules that encourage post play again.

this is embarrassing

KELDON JOHNSON is a cornerstone player who is just tapping his potential as a future super star.
Anyone who is not a SPURS fan doesnt understand.

He reminds me literally of Kawhi Leonard at the same time when Spurs fans were suggesting he would be an elite player soon.
Nobody on the planet knew who the hell Kawhi was in year 2 either other than Spurs fans.

but, Year 2 Kawhi got to play with still effective Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili. Johnson has never had anywhere near the veteran support.

As for Javale McGee......well that is another story.

I have no problem with Keldon Johnson being selected.

But superstar???

You are taking that a bit far bro.

Kawhi’s progression was 1 in a million. I wouldn’t count on Keldon Johnson making those same leaps.

Because he's 2 time NBA champion Javale McGee. They needed that championship heart and experience.

I can see the headline now:

Team USA Led By 2 Time NBA Champion Javale McGee...Wins Olympic Gold

I think it is pretty clear why Johnson was selected. He was on the select team and played in some of the warm up games so I assume there some type of chemistry/familiarity with him and the other 8 guys

That team is title favorites if they were a team in the NBA. Let's stop acting like this team sucks.

They're learning how to play with each other and learning new roles which is much different compared to what they're used to

Yes the rest of the world is getting better, but the biggest problem this team will have is not getting the touch fouls. I truly hope there is some teeth in the new rules next year. I’m tired of watching soft basketball.

Yeah I agree with the rest of the world catching up but they should be fine once they learn how to play with each other

It just seems the USA took a huge step back while other countries are taking a huge step forward.

I mean, Keldon Johnson and Javale McGee? I get they're replacements but come on now...

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this year or in 2024 they don't get the gold.

It depends. IMO this is the best chance to get them. Only reason a lot of players are not playing is injuries/late end to the NBA season.

Usually the best of the best shows up to the olympics.

I think under normal circumstances we would have seen guys like Steph, AD, Mitchell, and Kawhi on this team. That's 3 more top 10 players and Mitchell who is in the top 15. Harden and Kyrie likely would have been here as well if not for the late season injuries
