Fuck! They are really going to miss his right handed power in the lineup. Sosa has had a hot spring and we know his defense works at 3B. I just don’t think you can count on him to be a regular. They’ve gotta go find a right handed bat with power. Sucks. I feel for Rhys too. Truth be told, I was ready to move on because of his defense. But you hate to see this in a contract year for the guy.

Darick Hall bats LH but is having a good spring and may be a suitable replacement. .319/.385, 5 HR, 11 RBI. Somehow they'll work it out. Sosa has 4 HR.

They’re going to have to piece it together until Dombrowski can deal for an every day 1B.

Yeah they are kind of lefty heavy now without Hoskins. Bohm looks like he would be a good 1b with the long arms and whatnot. Maybe give him a crash workout there and when you needed a righthanded lineup stick Bohm at first and Sosa at 3rd.

Moving Bohm isn’t ideal. He’s still working to become a solid fielder as it is. Now in asking him to play 1B you’re impacting nearly every play in the infield. I think Dombrowski has to make a deal. Not likely immediate but around late June/July as teams start to realize that they’re out of it.

yeah, I considered that. But if we're being honest, 1B may be where he ends up in a couple years anyway.
But keep in mind I'm just learning of this Hoskins injury. I'm sure I'll have six more different ideas by the end of the weekend. Starting with this one--Castellanos came up as a 3B. He can probably handle first at least as well as Hoskins, then if Kingery is really a thing this year he could play the outfield better than Nick.

Here’s some thing I found on who might be available down the line at 1B

I love Cron but I think he may have an injury of his own right now. If we could get Walker that would be huge, but what would we have to give up?

The only other one I like in that list is maybe Aguilar as a temporary solution. I bet you wouldn't have to give up much to get him. The last couple years he's been buried in an awful ballpark in Miami. You could platoon him with Hall and get some power from both sides of the plate til they find a better solution.

2 More possibilities-- Mike Ford and Luke Voit. The more I look at it they really just need a good right handed bat to platoon with Hall.

Walker would probably cost you Abel or McGarry.

I like the idea of finding a guy who can platoon with Hall.

I wouldn't trade for him, but I'd be waiting to see if he gets released and snap him up as soon as he became available.
Isn’t Ruf a lefty though? Seems like WalMart brand Hall at this point in his career.
