Kimmo Forever
No matter what, the goalie gets blamed. There is no patience with goalies in that place. It's a goalie graveyard.
Bob is a prime example. Had Philly dumped Bryz and went with Bob, he'd be a basket case by now. Bob started shaky, was carrying his glove too low and was playing back. And he let in five goals in the first minute of games early on.
And after the second one, every mouth breathing nutjob would have been screaming for his head on WIP. And wanting to kill the GM for letting a stud like Bryz go.
In Columbus, expectations are lower, fans are less aggressive and he worked on and found the hitch in his game. And he's been phenomenal.
There are reasons why Richter, Cujo and Vernon refused to go there. They could have had Patrick Roy in his prime, and it wouldn't have been enough.
Well first things first, WIP is useless for anything related to hockey.
And while we are not exactly patient fans, we havent exactly had a whole lot of capable goaltenders to actually give a chance. Since 2000: Boucher, Cechmanek, Esche, Biron, Nittymaki, Emery, Leighton, Bobrovsky, and Bryzgalov.
Frankly, Bob is the only example of no patience. It isn't voodoo magic that goalies die in Philadelphia, simply because we never actually have one.
