I wish we could switch Peters' Lavi for DeBoer. Sorry Devs fans for butchering his name.

Flyers don't play again until Sunday night in Pittsburgh. That's five days for homer to sit and stew on his team being last in the Atlantic, and 12th in the east.

Lavy might not make it to Sunday...

I think that will be the breaking point. If he can still beat the top rival, it may buy him enough confidence to hang on.

/No one posted a picture of a cat hanging onto something that's captioned "hang in there."

Is there actually any logic behind us never going to have a top goalie?

No matter what, the goalie gets blamed. There is no patience with goalies in that place. It's a goalie graveyard.

Bob is a prime example. Had Philly dumped Bryz and went with Bob, he'd be a basket case by now. Bob started shaky, was carrying his glove too low and was playing back. And he let in five goals in the first minute of games early on.

And after the second one, every mouth breathing nutjob would have been screaming for his head on WIP. And wanting to kill the GM for letting a stud like Bryz go.

In Columbus, expectations are lower, fans are less aggressive and he worked on and found the hitch in his game. And he's been phenomenal.

There are reasons why Richter, Cujo and Vernon refused to go there. They could have had Patrick Roy in his prime, and it wouldn't have been enough.

Maybe they just go to a trap to help the goaltending and rely on Voracek, Hartnell and Giroux to score anyway?

The 1-2-2 and the 1-4 are also known to give the Penguins issues. I'm surprised that they haven't tried them yet.

for all the hate and pissing/moaning, the flyers and pens are actually VERY similar teams.. all out attack, mediocre defense, mediocre goaltending, extremely potent offense, quite a few guys that get under the other teams' skin

the difference is the pens have dmen that are actually capable of completing a pass over 3 inches in length. and that is the difference between what, 4th in the league and 25th?

3rd right now. ;)

I do agree on the similarities. They both have rosters that can beat anyone, but they also have those lapses where they can lose to anyone. It's a really weird makeup, but they are young teams..

I'm not sure that Edmonton has actually benefited. They seem to be getting worse.

Yet they've got more points than Calgary & the Flames are supposed to be a playoff team because of all their Veterans & big money UFA signings. The Oilers do have a good core of young forwards. Their D & Goaltending is what they need to upgrade next.

The Oil just seem to be moving a lot slower than many of the "lottery rebuild" teams that came before them. Maybe it's because they went straight up offense with those high picks? I dunno.

Two words: draft lottery. This year it probably won't benefit the tanking teams.

That was actually directed to help you guys. You won't finish in the bottom 5, so the new rules still give you a chance at a top 5 pick.
