He was just saying that we should enjoy it and have fun. He's just saying that guys should be able to dish and take trash talk. What's the point in talking on these forums if we're not enjoying the ups and downs of being fans. Some of you guys act like we supposed to only talk about raw statistics and previous champions and how great they were. Apparently talking about the current NFL season is frowned upon until the SB is over.

While USC has a large loyal fanbase with lots of deep pocket alums, they also have an army of bandwagon fans as well. One of the largest bandwagon fanbases in college football.

A lot of it has to do with the location. LA is a very transitory town filled with hundreds of thousands of wannabees in their 20s trying to make it in the entertainment industries (Music, film, tv, etc...) Many of them go to Laker, Kings, and USC games to be seen and bring attention to themselves. Same with those who made it in that town, but have 0 ties to USC or the pro teams when they grew up somewhere else. But this only works when the teams are doing great. If they are meh or sucking, the arenas and stadiums end up with thousands of empty seats as the bandwagon fans won't show.

Problem is USC depends on all those LA bandwagon fans to provide a lot of the media hype and buy those expensive game tickets and merchandise. They depend on all those actors and musicians to show up around the campus and in the prime seats at games to keep the media attention on them.

The attention Pete Carrolls teams brought to USC was like nothing that town had ever seen before. And USC made out like bandits. Problem is he's no longer there and all the bandwagon fans have abandoned the team. They need another coach who will be build a team that will be BCS quality every year. They can't let UCLA swipe recruits from them and they can't let teams like Oregon, Stanford, and UW steal any attention away from them.

I don't think he is a bad guy, I really don't. He just has that "rub it in your nose" look to the other team when his team wins. Most coaches don't do that so I can see why it can upset people.

The example of this that I didn't like was when they beat the Packers with that fluke play and he acted like it the officials did such a great job. I think he said something out there like "they are out there doing their best and at the end of the day made the right call".

He is a good coach though.

Yeah positivity is his strength.... I was pretty impressed by how he found a positive with all the seahawk defensive players who were testing positive for PED's... "hey, but look how well they are playing!"

Seriously though, without going into the whole USC thing, and I acknowledge harbaugh can be abrassive to say the least..... there is just something about the way he chews gum with that half smile half smirk that just makes we want to drive a sledgehammer into his face.

Talking smack is both fine and fun. It just bothers me when fans start to believe that they've personally accomplished something when their team wins... and it happens a lot. It's annoying.
