The Pens could sign both letang and Malkin and only increase their cap hit by probably under 2 mil.. and it also frees up a roster spot which is needed on the defensive side.

As for Letang, I could really care less if he is retained beyond next season. The Pens are flush with blueline talent in the minors(Maatta, Pouliot, Harrington). Despres is expected to take on a more significant role in 13-14.

If Tanger won't accept something similar to what Karlsson received(45mil, 5mil cap hit), then I say adios to Tanger.

He got back to his game. He was very steady and made the plays when it counted. Easily the best defenseman on the team.

I think Shero would probably try to squeeze a bit more. He always has for his defensemen trades. Probably Letang for Edler and Higgins.

Paul Martin had a heck of a year... very steady back there... all Playoffs I was clamoring for him to be on the top PP... came to light that he was dealing with a bad injury....

I'm not saying I want them to trade Paul Martin... I'm saying I think the Pens want Letang and the easiest way to keep him would be to trade Martin. I would have no problem trading Letang.... IMO, one of them has to go... Letang has so much more upside than Paul, but Letang would fetch so much more the Martin.
