when that is the best MLB moment of the day....LETS skip to the signing of SOMEONE in the top 20 FA's and call it a day...unless the "meetings" actually produce some trades...

although it is nice to see the Tigers offense take a hit with losing Pena...now they are stuck with Avila and ..........maybe resigning former catcher......INGE???????

Pena will probably regress though. .297 BA with a career BA of .258. His career BABIP is .276 and he had a BABIP of .315 this year. Though there's going to be a lot of fluctuation for a backup catcher that's been getting around 175-250 PA per season over the last five years.

Even with the high average, he still only managed a .315 OBP (he walked 6 times in 243 PA) and slugged .397 with a 91 OPS+. The average AL catcher this year batted .246/.312/.396 with a 96 OPS+. He can't hit for any power whatsoever and he has to hit for a high average to manage a respectable OBP. He did bat .273/.318/.442 (100 OPS+) in 2009, but his offense was absymal from 2010-12 (.245/.284/.331, 68 OPS+ in 640 PA).

If the Tigers offense took a hit, it's a very negligible one.

Ed Reed signed with the Jets. He'll be a huge asset if he keeps his piehole shut

lol, completely agree, it was tongue in cheek, Pena's defense is horrible and he really doesn't have any power.....

Making fun of one of the early free agent signings...and how "big" of impact it is for both teams...
