I concur about Goldie. Imagine if he wasn't on the team this year? We might be talking being the NL West Miami Marlins.

Just imagine how poorly the team played when he was slumping and magnify that by 5. They'd be horrible.

if Goldy had these stats on a non contending Yankees or Red Sox team they would have given him the award at the all star break.

.964 ops & 34 bombs leading the league ? Pretty weak field I'd say. If y'all were contenders maybe but you're not so no. McCutchen or Kershaw.

Kemp had better numbers and didn't win, sorry AZ fans.

AZ and the Dodgers both have one big thing in common this year...

Most fans will remember both their seasons in 2013 for the pool incident. Neither won anything. The Dodgers are now Yankees West and hopefully starting a similar tradition of paying obscene amounts of money compared to everyone else and getting vastly disproportionate results with it.

Goldschmidt was the best hitter in the NL, but the gap between him and Cutch wasn't huge. Or at least not big enough to make up for the position difference IMO. Wouldn't be upset if Goldschmidt won though. He had a fantastic year.

Highest wOBA in the NL will get you that Hank Aaron. A case for McCutcheon is just as easily made, but that doesn't make Goldschmidt undeserving - it just puts him in good company. Cutch will get the MVP so the Hank Aaron is a fine consolation prize.

Have to say, after looking, that I'm shocked to learn that Jayson Werth was only .001 behind him in wOBA for the year and actually had a higher wRC+ .... Goldy played in 30 more games though.

Not too surprising. Werth quietly had a great year. Actually, the best offensive year of his career.
